New musical SCHOOL OF ROCK opened at the West End's New London Theatre tonight. Based on the smash hit 2003 film of the same title, the show features music from the movie, as well as new music written byAndrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Julian Fellowes. Comedy star David Fynn stars as substitute teacher Dewey Finn, the role made famous by Jack Black in the film, and a nationwide search to find the three teams of 13 young performers took place earlier this year.

Following rave reviews earlier this week Sonia Friedman, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,  announced that a further 250,000 tickets will be released for sale next week on Thursday 4 August 2016 at 11am BST, booking through to 10 December 2017.  Tickets are priced from £15 per part and for every performance there will be 300 tickets at £20 or less per part.

Last night, Wednesday 23 March, saw the opening night of the much-anticipated production of Duncan Macmillan's intoxicating new play, PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS, at the Wyndham's Theatre. Following a critically acclaimed run of FAME: Not The Musical in 2014, the Menier Chocolate Factory today announces the world premiere of David Baddiel's new show My Family: Not The Sitcom.  The production opens on 17 May, with previews from 10 May, and runs until 25 June, following Funny Girl which completes its run at the Menier Chocolate Factory on 5 March and the UK premiere of Florian Zeller's The Truth from 10 March to 7 May. 

Perfect Pitch and Theatre Royal Stratford East are delighted to announce the winners of the 2015/16 Perfect Pitch Award for Musical Theatre Writing. Daniel York and Craig Adams won the £12,000 prize for their piece 'Sinking Water' and the opportunity to collaborate on a new musical in a ceremony held today at St James's Theatre. The winners are now tasked with writing a full draft of a new show in a 12-month period towards a professional staged reading and/or production supported and mentored throughout by Perfect Pitch and Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Perfect Pitch and Theatre Royal Stratford East announced in June that they were working together to present the 2015/16 Perfect Pitch Award for Musical Theatre Writing and have since been overwhelmed with applications.

THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, the Olivier Award-winning box office hit, celebrates its first, triumphant year in the West End, and as a new booking period opens with tickets going on sale until 11 September 2016, the show's phenomenal popularity with audiences looks set to continue.

The West End production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, opened last night, Tuesday 24 February 2014 at the Aldwych Theatre, London. The National Theatre's award-winning production of War Horse last night (25 October 2012) celebrated its fifth anniversary in London with a special performance at the New London Theatre, Drury Lane. Former cast members and the show's creative team gathered with VIPs and friends to celebrate five years on the London stage.
