Carpenter and Grassle Lead Aurora Theatre's JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN, 4/8-5/9

Aurora Theatre Company continues its 18th season with Henrik Ibsen's rarely-produced masterwork JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN, in a new version by David Eldridge. Aurora Theatre Company founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver, who directed the company's hit production of Ibsen's The Master Builder, returns to helm this fiercely relevant drama, featuring Bay Area stage veteran James Carpenter (The Master Builder) in the title role, and stage and television actress Karen Grassle (Little House on the Prairie) in her Aurora debut.

The Off-Broadway premiere of LOOKING FOR BILLY HAINES, a new comedy with dance by Suzanne Brockmann and Will McCabe, with music by Barry Singer, opened on Thursday March 25th at the Lion Theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street)h. The limited engagement is set to run through May 22nd.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival, Michael Minarik & Eleven Entertainment announced today that Carly Jibson (Cry-Baby, Hairspray), Clarke Thorell (Catch Me If You Can, Hairspray), Sarah Saltzberg (?Spelling Bee), Kristine Zbornik (A Catered Affair, Road Show) and Randy Blair (Adding Machine) will star in Fat Camp, a new, completely original musical, at the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival. With book by Blair and Timothy Michael Drucker (creators of the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival?s Outstanding Musical winner Perez Hilton Saves the Universe), lyrics by Blair, and music by Matthew Roi Berger, Fat Camp will play the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row from September 30th ? October 8th. The production will be directed by Obie Award-winning and Drama Desk Award nominee director Alex Timbers (Gutenberg! the Musical, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, ?Children?s Scientology Pageant).

Award-winning director Jay Manley helms this fabulous cult hit with musical direction by Spencer Williams, and choreography by Andrew Ceglio (also the production's star).
