Theater LaB Houston announces 2013 2014 Season and Regional Premieres

Theater LaB Houston returns with its 21st Season of staging the BEST in contemporary theater. The search for a new and intimate venue that complements TLH's home of twenty years has been found at Obsidian Art Space (OAS) located at 3522 White Oak Blvd. Houston, Texas 77007. The four new season productions will be staged at OAS as well as Cock.

Page 73 Productions Announces 26 Semi-Finalists For 2014 Development Programs

Page 73 Productions - the Off-Broadway company dedicated to producing and developing works by early-career playwrights -- has announced 26 semi-finalists for their 2014 development programs. Page 73's slate of individually-tailored developmental programs for early-career playwrights includes the P73 Playwriting Fellowship, the Interstate 73 writers group, and the Summer Residency at Yale University.

The Show Goes On Presents HERE IN THE DARK at The Cutting Room Today

The Show Goes On Productions (TSGO) presents another theatrical concert in its ROCK TONIC Series, tonight September 30th, 2013. HERE IN THE DARK, written and performed by Ashkon Davaran, directed by Shakina Nayfack, will be at The Cutting Room, 44 E. 32ndStreet, at Park Avenue. Doors and kitchen open at 9:30. Page 73 Productions - the Off-Broadway company dedicated to producing and developing works by early-career playwrights - will present a reading of their 2013 Interstate 73 member Kait Kerrigan's play IMAGINARY LOVE tonight, September 23 at 6 pm at Dodger Atelier (311 West 43rd St, 6th Floor). Daniel Goldstein (GODSPELL, GOD OF CARNAGE) will direct.

Artists Rep Presents MISTAKES WERE MADE, Now thru 10/27

Michael Mendelson plays the lead role of Felix Artifex in Artists Rep's production of MISTAKES WERE MADE. Artistic Director Damaso Rodriguez directs Mendelson and guides the show to opening as the production's Associate Director. Preview performances begin tonight, September 24 and the play will open on September 28.

Artists Rep's 2013/14 season kicks off with The Big Meal by Dan LeFranc in its West Coast premiere, directed by new Artistic Director Damaso Rodriguez. Set in a quintessential American restaurant, entire lives whiz by for a modern family whose stage and age are short-order fare. From birth to that inevitable last course - and every corndog, calamari and Cadillac margarita in between - a multi-generational potluck of characters live life's major and minor moments around the dinner table.

Artists Rep to Present MISTAKES WERE MADE, 9/24-10/27

Artists Rep announces Michael Mendelson will step in to play the lead role of Felix Artifex, as Todd Van Voris must leave the production due to a family emergency. Artistic Director Dámaso Rodriguez will now direct Mendelson and guide the show to opening as the production's Associate Director. Originally slated to begin preview performances next Tuesday, September 17, the run dates for Mistakes Were Made will now be pushed back one week. Preview performances will begin September 24 and the play will open on September 28.

Page 73 Productions to Sponsor Three Playwriting Residencies this Summer

The first weeklong residency was held at The Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in Tarrytown, New York from June 21-29. It featured playwrights Stephen Brown and Max Posner, along with director Portia Krieger and a company of actors. The Pocantico Center residency, established in 2008 by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, supports artists in their creative process. This was Page 73's fifth summer sending playwrights to the residency.

Husband-and-wife duo - two-time Tony Award-winner Katie Finneran (most recently on Broadway in 'Annie') and Darren Goldstein ('Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson') hosted the 15th Anniversary Benefit for the Off-Broadway theatre company Page 73 Productions last week at City Winery (155 Varick Street) in Manhattan. Larry Pine to Lead A PUBLIC READING OF AN UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAY ABOUT THE DEATH OF WALT DISNEY at Soho Rep, 4/30-5/26

Soho Rep has announced that the celebrated stage and screen actor Larry Pine will star in the world premiere production of Lucas Hnath's adrenaline-charged odyssey A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney. Directed by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson, Pine will play the title character - the man who forever changed the American Dream. Hnath's fictional play centers around the reading of a screenplay Walt Disney has written about his last days on earth. The script is about a city he is going to build that is going to change the world; about his brother; about everyone who loves Disney and how sad they are going to be when he is gone.
