The Drama League has announced the rosters of stars who will appear as presenters at The 77th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon on Friday, May 20, 2011 (noon) in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square (1535 Broadway at 46th Street). The ceremony will be hosted by Kathleen Turner (High).

New Dramatists, Tony Honor® recipient and the nation's premiere playwright development workshop, honored 14-time Tony Award® winner Roger Berlind with their 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award at its 62nd Annual Spring Luncheon tribute, yesterday, May 17th at the New York Marriott Marquis. Philip J. Smith and Robert E. Wankel of The Shubert Organization served as the Luncheon Chairs. Jim Dale, Emily Mann and Brian Stokes Mitchell were among those paying tribute to Mr Berlind. The 2011 Tony Award nominees were announced live from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in New York City on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Yesterday, the proud nominees gathered at the Millenium Hotel in Times Square to celebrate and meet the press. Broadway Beat was on hand, of course, to speak with all of the proud nominees. The producers of Broadway's LOMBARDI announced today that the show will play its final performance on Sunday May 22. Producers Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo said, 'LOMBARDI was a story that we wanted to tell and an idea that we believed in. We wanted to attract both an audience which had never set foot in a Broadway theatre, and to satisfy the traditional theatre goer. Vince Lombardi's remarkable life offered us the opportunity to assemble a cast made in heaven, and a creative dream team.'

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting held the Sixth Annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala last night, May 2, at the home of songwriter and philanthropist, Denise Rich. The Tony nominations were revealed this morning and they have much of the theatre world celebrating. In a season as rich as this past theatrical season though, there are only so many spots for nominees and some very talented shows and performers were not nominated. On Saturday afternoon April 30 following LOMBARDI's matinee, star Dan Lauria will make history when he takes the podium at Radio City Music Hall to announce the Green Bay Packers' sixth round draft pick - in costume and in character. While teams have had former and current players make their selection, it is the first time that an actor will make a selection for a professional sports team during a draft. Lauria's portrayal of the legendary coach has been called 'compelling' and 'mesmerizing,' by Variety, and WOR Radio says that 'he nailed it.' The NFL made their own history with LOMBARDI, when they made their producing debut with the show, now the longest running play on Broadway.

The Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS 25th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition has just wrapped at the Minskoff Theatre! The first acts were presented yesterday, April 25, with the show continuing today, Tuesday, April 26. The proceeds from the event will benefit BC/EFA.

This morning, Norbert Leo Butz and Kathleen Chalfant announced the nominations for The 77th Annual Drama League Awards in the categories of Distinguished Production of Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award. Both actors are previous winners of The Drama League's Distinguished Performance Award. LOMBARDI, now the longest running new play on Broadway, celebrated its 200th performance last Friday, and was honored on Tuesday night with a party at Tony's Di Napoli restaurant at which a stunning oil portrait of stars Dan Lauria and Judith Light was revealed; it will be the newest addition to Tony's prestigious Broadway Wall of Fame. Autographed poster copies will be auctioned off at a future event to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The party was hosted by Bruce Dimpflmaier and Tony's di Napoli Restaurant.
