Aurora Theatre Company Presents WIDOWERS' HOUSES

Aurora Theatre Company presents George Bernard Shaw's crackling comic satire WIDOWERS' HOUSES directed by Joy Carlin. With colorful villains and foils to offset a romantic duo, Shaw's take on gentrification, rent prices, and social responsibility is as timely today as at its 1892 London premiere.

BWW Review: DRAW THE CIRCLE at Mosaic Theater is Essential Viewing

Mashuq Mushtaq Deen's DRAW THE CIRCLE marks Mosaic Theater Company's first time featuring a transgender artist telling their own personal story, which alone makes the work noteworthy. But Deen's extreme vulnerability and creativity coalesce to make it a vitally important piece of theater.

BWW Review: THE REAL AMERICANS is a Must-See at Mosaic Theater Company

When actor and writer Dan Hoyle left San Francisco on a three-month trip through small-town Middle America several years ago, he couldn't have predicted that many of the disillusioned real Americans he encountered on his travels would be part of a nationwide movement to elect Trump in 2016. Hoyle's astounding one-man show, THE REAL AMERICANS (developed with and directed by Charlie Varon), reveals poignant perspectives of these individuals with humor, emotional depth, and authenticity.

John Leguizamo Returns to Broadway in LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS Tonight

Emmy winner John Leguizamo (Ghetto Klown) is making his highly-anticipated return to Broadway this fall in his original one-man comedic play LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS, direct from his acclaimed engagements at The Public Theater and Berkeley Repertory Theater.

BWW Guest Blog: Dan Hoyle on Opening THE REAL AMERICANS in San Francisco

On a sweltering day late last month, I amble into the Casey's General Store convenience mart in Darlington, Wisconsin, population 2,316. I'm carrying a plastic bag of teabags in my back pocket, a need for hot water, and the hope of striking up conversation with the cashier. Darlington is the county seat of Lafayette County, one of several counties in Southwestern Wisconsin that hadn't supported a Republican for President since Ronald Reagan. That is until November 8, 2016, when folks turned out to support Republican nominee Donald Trump, helping to swing Wisconsin, and the election, in his favor. I'm updating my solo show The Real Americans, which is based on travels through small-town and rural America, so I'm curious to know why folks here went for Trump. The Real Americans is having a revival at The Marsh in San Francisco through October 28 before it opens a seven-week run at Mosaic Theater in Washington D.C. starting November 10.

John Leguizamo's LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS Extends at The Public

The Public Theater announced today that three final performances have been added to the critically acclaimed New York premiere of Latin History for Morons, created and performed by John Leguizamo. Directed by Tony Taccone, this fiercely funny, satirical one-man show was inspired by Leguizamo's observation that Latinos are essentially invisible in the standard American history curriculum.

Mosaic Theater Company Announces 2017-18 Season Three Lineup

Mosaic Theater Company of DC announces its most ambitious and theatrically varied lineup to date with its 2017-18 season. Compelled to respond to changing and challenging times in our country, Season Three grapples with our current political climate, celebrating outspoken heroines (of fluid gender and sexuality) in two new musicals, while embracing documentary inspired reportage, sharp political and social satire, and stirring family drama.
