Rising Phoenix Rep Presents CLOWN BAR June 19

Following the sold out performances and overflow crowds at its first eight Cino Nights presentations (of new plays by Gary Sunshine, Mando Alvarado, Courtney Baron, Florencia Lozano, Kristen Palmer, Emily DeVoti, Lucy Thurber, and Jessica Dickey) Rising Phoenix Rep continues the series on June 19th at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. with CLOWN BAR by Adam Szymkowicz.

La Jolla Playhouse Presents SLEEPING BEAUTY WAKES July 19- Aug 21

La Jolla Playhouse presents a new adaptation of Sleeping Beauty Wakes, book by Tony Award-winning librettist Rachel Sheinkin (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), with a score by composer Brendan Milburn and lyricist Valerie Vigoda, both of the acclaimed trio GrooveLily (Striking 12, Long Story Short), and directed by Rebecca Taichman, who will also direct the Playhouse's 2011/12 world premiere of Milk Like Sugar.

Berkeley Rep Announces 3 New Shows For 2011-12

Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre completed the line-up for another year of innovative and adventurous work with the announcement of three exceptional shows.

Cantone, Slater, Sheik et al. Set for NY Stage & Film's 2011 Season

New York Stage and Film (Johanna Pfaelzer, Artistic Director; Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, Leslie Urdang, Producing Directors) and Vassar College (Ed Cheetham, Producing Director) have announced the full line-up of their 2011 Powerhouse Theater season, now entering its 27th year. The result of a unique collaboration between New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, the program consists of an eight-week residency on the Vassar campus (124 Raymond Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY) during which more than 200 professional artists and some 40 apprentices live and work together to create new theater works. The 2011 Main Stage season kicks off with Patricia Wettig's F2M (June 29 - July 10).

William Inge Theatre Festival Opens with A DOCTOR IN SPITE OF HIMSELF, 4/13

A preview presentation of a new musical by Sheldon Harnick (co-creator of Fiddler on the Roof) opens the 30th Annual William Inge Theatre Festival on April 13, 2011. The Inge Festival-the Official State Theatre Festival or Kansas-runs April 13-16 in Independence, Kansas. Tickets go on sale online on March 1.

The Civilians Present LET ME ASCERTAIN YOU At Joe's Pub, 3/4

The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director), the award-winning New York-based theatre company known for projects investigating real life topics, presents Let Me Ascertain You: Pretty Filthy, a one-night-only cabaret performance at Joe's Pub on March 4, 2011 at 9:30 PM. Back by popular demand after sold-out evenings in both NY and LA, the March cabaret offers even more enticing interviews from the company's unique exploration into the adult entertainment industry. Civilians' artists have been out in Vegas and California's San Fernando Valley talking to directors, performers, agents, and producers about the ins and outs of the dirty movie biz: how they do it and what it takes to make it. New excerpts from interviews with well-known adult entertainment figures, as well as new songs by Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson composer and lyricist, Michael Friedman will be performed by the talented cast. Come spend the night with The Civilians - maybe you'll get lucky and win a prize! Seriously, there will be prizes (porn charades anyone?).

Katori Hall Wins 2011 Blackburn Prize

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced Katori Hall as the winner of its prestigious playwriting award, now celebrating its thirty-third year. The Houston-based Prize received the 2010 Theatre Communications Group's National Funder Award. The annual honor goes to a company, foundation or other entity for 'leadership and sustained national support of theater in America.

Fountain Theatre Presents HOUSE NOT MEANT TO STAND, 2/26

The Ovation award-winning Fountain Theatre ('Best Season, 2010') celebrates the centennial of Tennessee Williams' birth (March 26, 1911) with the West Coast premiere of his final play, by special permission of the Williams Estate. Simon Levy, just announced as the recipient of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle's 2010 Milton Katselas Award for special achievement in directing, directs A House Not Meant to Stand, opening February 26 at The Fountain Theatre. Low-priced previews begin February 19.
