Daniel Bernard Roumain Creates SYMPHONY FOR THE DANCE FLOOR

Acclaimed composer/violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) presents an ecstatic fusion of music, art and movement in a new evening-length work Symphony for the Dance Floor. The last of a three-part series commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), following DBR's One Loss Plus (2007, Next Wave) and Darwin's Meditation for The People of Lincoln (2008, Next Wave), Symphony for the Dance Floor embarks on a four-city tour that revolves around its New York premiere at BAM's 2011 Next Wave Festival, October 13-15.

Brooklyn-based theater company 31 Down's loud meditation on paranoia and premonition surrounding plane crashes, RED OVER RED, will premiere with a run at New York City's Incubator Arts Project July 22-August 7, 2010. 31 Down returns with their signature sonic destruction, creating a horror theater that is immersive, visceral and contemporary. Red Over Red follows four people working in and around the airline industry to explore distrust in one another on a personal level, and distrust in the unknown on a primal level. Featuring recurring crash nightmares, the work graphically dives into our renewed fears of flight post 911. Starring frequent Richard Foreman and Hal Hartley actor DJ Mendel, and Caitlin McDonough-Thayer, Ryan Holsopple and Risa Sarachan.

'MONSTROSITY,' featuring a cast of 21, will be performed at The Connelly Theatre, 220 East 4th Street (between Avenues A and B), with performances running from July 9 through 19, 2009 for a total of twelve performances. (Evening performances will all be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9; Friday, July 10; Saturday, July 11; Sunday, July 12; Tuesday, July 14; Wednesday, July 15; Thursday, July 16; Friday, July 17; and Saturday, July 18. There will be three matinee performances at 1:00 p.m. on: Saturdays, July 11 and 18 and Sunday, July 19 (the final performance of 'MONSTROSITY' will be the matinee on July 19).
