The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Andrew Levine, Executive Director) present the New York premiere of Storyville, a New Orleans musical, with book by Ed Bullins, music and lyrics by Mildred Kayden, direction by Bill Castellino,choreography by Mercedes Ellington and music direction by William Foster McDaniel. Jahn Sood's new folk opera The Disappearing Man received a concert reading at Joe's Pub on Monday, April 8th. A well-attended developmental reading of the musical that took place March 3rd at Shetler Studios marked the New York premiere of the show's latest incarnation, which featured significant revisions, including a new book and several new songs by Sood, as well as new orchestrations by music director Brian Cavanagh-Strong. Earlier this week, Transport Group presented GIMME A BREAK! an evening of performances honoring Christian Borle, Sue Frost, and Paul Huntley at it's benefit gala at the Asia Society and Museum, 725 Park Avenue. The GIMME A BREAK! performance featured Broadway stars sharing their 'big break' moments in story and song.
