Sebastian Arcelus, Marc Kudisch, Teal Wicks, et al. Set for Second Stage Theatre's THE BLUE FLOWER

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced the complete cast for its upcoming production of the new musical THE BLUE FLOWER: Sebastian Arcelus (Buddy in Elf, Wicked, Jersey Boys), Marc Kudisch (Three-time Tony Award nominee for 9 to 5, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Meghan McGeary (The Blue Flower at A.R.T.), Joseph Medeiros (Irving Berlin's White Christmas), Julia Osborne (National Tour of South Pacific), Graham Rowat (Guys and Dolls), Aaron Serotsky (August: Osage County), and Teal Wicks (Elphaba in Wicked).

BARRIERS Commemorates 9/11, Previews Tonight at HERE

To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, and to celebrate their tenth season Desipina & Co. - a fusion arts company focusing in film and theatre, dedicated to promoting cross-pollinations of artistic, political and cultural dialogues - will present BARRIERS, a play by Rehana Lew Mirza (THE GOOD MUSLIM) about a South Asian family's loss from the 9/11 attacks and the backlash they endure, featuring a cast that includes Pooja Kumar (Miss India USA 1995, 'Flavors') and Sunkrish Bala (ABC-TV's 'Notes from the Underbelly'). Previews of BARRIERS will begin Wednesday, September 7 prior to an official opening date of September 9 at HERE (145 6th Avenue, enter on Dominick, 1 block south of Spring Street) in Manhattan.

LAKE WATER Set for IRT Theater, Begins 9/17

Neighborhood Productions has announced that the world premiere of Lake Water, written by Troy Deutsch and directed by Daniel Talbott, will begin performances on Saturday, September 17, at 8pm, at IRT Theater, 154 Christopher Street. Lake Water, which features Troy Deutsch and Samantha Soule in the cast, is scheduled to open Thursday, September 22, at 8pm.

ATC presents the Chicago Premiere of THE AMISH PROJECT 9/23-10/23

American Theater Company (ATC) announces the Chicago Premiere of The Amish Project written by Jessica Dickey and directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli, featuring ATC Ensemble member Sadieh Rifai. The production will run September 23 - October 23, 2011 at American Theater Company, 1909 W Byron, Chicago, IL. Press opening is Monday, September 26, 2011 at 7:00PM.

Theater For A New Audience Presents Fiasco's Cymbeline, Previews 8/27

Cymbeline is back! Two sold-out weeks last January for Fiasco Theater's production of Cymbeline wasn't nearly long enough to satisfy the demands of a theatre-going public hungry for, as Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote, 'the comedy, poignancy and unlikely magic of Cymbeline.'

Surflight Theatre Presents I DO! I DO!, Opens Tonight

Surflight Theatre, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Roy Miller and Executive Producer Timothy Laczynski, continues its 2011 season with I Do! I Do!, the Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt musical based on The Fourposter by Jan de Hartog.

BAM Presents THE SPEAKER'S PROGRESS, 10/6-8

A totalitarian state somewhere in the Arab world where all forms of theater have been banned is the setting for SABAB Theatre's The Speaker's Progress. Presented in its US premiere as part of the 2011 Next Wave Festival, this latest work from the Kuwait-based SABAB Theatre is a dark satire on the decades of hopelessness and political inertia that have fed recent revolts across the Arab region and a daring theatrical metaphor for the mechanisms of dissent.

THE REAL AMERICANS Opens 9/9 at Portland Stage

Actor/Journalist Dan Hoyle journeys into the Heartland to meet The Real Americans this fall at Portland Center Stage. The one-man show is based on a months-long road trip into the not-the-coasts parts of the US and meets the real people living outside the 'latte liberal bubble' and explores what rural America is really thinking. The Real Americans previews on Tuesday September 6th, opens on Friday, September 9th, and runs Tuesday through Sunday through November 6. Tickets start at $26, with student and under 30 discounts available. Rush tickets are $20. Show times are 7:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, with a 2:00 pm Sunday matinee and alternating Saturday 2:00 pm and Sunday 7:30 pm performances.

Atlantic Announces US Premiere of Bluebird Starring Simon Russell Beale

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) will present the first production of its 2011-2012 season, the U.S. premiere of Simon Stephen's play BLUEBIRD, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch and starring Olivier Award winner and Tony Award® nominee Simon Russell Beale, Tobias Segal and Atlantic Theater Company members Kate Blumberg, Mary McCann, and Todd Weeks.
