LABA Announces 2017-18 Fellows, Celebrates 10th Anniversary at the 14th Street Y

LABA: Laboratory for Jewish Culture announces the 2017-2018 Fellows: a group of ten culture-makers, a mix of visual artists, writers, musicians, playwrights and directors who are brought together to study classic Jewish texts in a non-religious, open-minded setting centered on a chosen theme; this year's theme is WAR + PEACE.

ENCUENTRO DE LAS AMERICAS - 14 Theater Companies, One Vibrant Celebration

L.A.'s Latino Theater Company will be joined by 13 companies from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Peru and Colombia for a three-week celebration of dynamic, contemporary Latinx and Latin American theater. Encuentro de Las Am ricas, produced by the Latino Theater Company in association with Latinx Theatre Commons, is set to take place at downtown's The Los Angeles Theatre Center from Nov. 2 through Nov. 19.

Five Selections Announced for 2017 Sundance Institute

Five theatre directors are slated for the fifth Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat, which convenes in Arles, France, August 25 through September 7. Berkeley Rep presents World Premiere of IMAGINARY COMFORTS

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the world premiere of Imaginary Comforts, or The Story of the Ghost of the Dead Rabbit, written by Daniel Handler and directed by Tony Taccone. The new play begins previews on Thursday, October 5 and the show runs through Sunday, November 19. Individual tickets begin at $30 and can be purchased online at berkeleyrep.org or by phone, 510 647-2949. Press night will be on Thursday, October 12.

YBCA Debuts New Performing Arts Festival TRANSFORM
