With Harvey Fierstein adapting the original 2002 book and reprising the character of Edna, it was a joyous success. Now, Universal is making the telecast available to UK audiences for the first time for a mere 48 hours after its premiere on their YouTube channel.

Official: Musical Version of SMASH is Being Adapted for Broadway

SMASH is setting its sights on Broadway with a creative dream team and an official title of SMASH, A New Musical. The news was announced today by Steven Spielberg, Robert Greenblatt and Neil Meron who will serve as lead producers. They are developing a live stage adaptation inspired by the NBC series of the same name on which they all worked together.

The Educational Theatre Foundation Announces Appointments to National Board

The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) has announced the appointment of Krista Carson Elhai, Peter Hagan, Elwood Hopkins and Allison Rawlings to a term on the National Board from 2020 to 2023. The ETF National Board of Trustees is composed of prominent leaders across a diverse range of industries, including entertainment, finance, hospitality, law, education, and nonprofit theatre, all with a common passion for theatre education.

Broadway legend Bernadette Peters was honored with the Craig Zadan Theatre for Life Award by the Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) at the annual star-studded Thespians Go Hollywood Gala held on Monday, November 18, at The Avalon in Hollywood, California. Over 300 people were on hand to help raise more than $180,000 that will support ETF's national theatre education programs for schools in need.

Bernadette Peters, Rachel Bloom and More to Take Part In Thespians Go Hollywood Benefit

The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) will honor Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures with the ETF Entertainment Industry Award, at Thespians Go Hollywood, Monday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Avalon Hollywood. The annual benefit supports theatre education programs for schools in need by bringing together film, theatre, and television professionals with current high school students in a cabaret show that is entertaining, inspiring and not-to-be-missed.

Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman to Be Honored at School Theatre Benefit

The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) will honor Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman with the Broadway Back to School Award, which recognizes the impact of key leaders in the theatrical industry and education in building access and excellence in school theatre. Shaiman and Wittman were among the first creative leaders in the theatrical industry to recognize that the involvement of young students in musical theatre was essential for their success in school and life as well as for the progress and growth of the industry. 

Oscar Nominee Carol Channing Omitted from Oscars 'In Memoriam' Segment

Last night's Oscars ceremony took a moment to reflect on the many lives lost this year- a list that included Neil Simon, Stan Lee, Burt Reynolds, Craig Zadan, and many more. One Oscar-nominated actress was left off of the list however- Carol Channing, who passed away in January.

NBC Gets 'Standing Ovation' From National Educational Theatre Association

NBC Entertainment has received the Standing Ovation Award from the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). The award recognizes a corporation or organization that makes significant contributions to EdTA in supporting its mission of "shaping lives through theatre education" through philanthropic efforts, programs, and activities.
