Dexter Bullard & Hallie Gordon to Helm 2016-17 Productions at Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is pleased to announce the final two directors in the 2016/17 Subscription Season-Dexter Bullard will direct the world premiere production of ensemble member Tracy Letts's Linda Vista and Hallie Gordon will direct the Chicago premiere of Taylor Mac's Hir.

A Red Orchid Extends Ike Holter's SENDER

?Due to popular demand, A Red Orchid Theatre adds six performances to the run of the world premiere of Sender by Ike Holter, directed by Ensemble Member Shade Murray. Featuring Ensemble Member Steve Haggard, the cast of Sender also includes McKenzie Chinn, Mary Williamson and Steven Wilson. The extension includes Saturday matinees as well as additional weeknight performances. Sender will now run through June 4, 2016. A Red Orchid Theatre is located at 1531 N Wells. Tickets to extension performances go on sale Thursday, May 12, 2016.  

Ed Asner to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Long Island International Film Expo

This July, the Long Island International Film Expo will present Actor/Activist Ed Asner with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his extraordinary contributions to cinema over his lengthy career which has spanned decades from his work on the Mary Tyler Moore Show to recent Film/TV and Theatre work! This year's Expo set to be held from July 13 - 21, 2016 at the historic Bellmore Movies, 222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY!

Malibu Playhouse to Continue Season with Craig Wright's THE PAVILION

Malibu Playhouse continues their 2016 season with another limited-run critically acclaimed production: The Pavilion written by Craig Wright, the creator and executive producer of the dramatic series, Greenleaf, the first original series produced by Oprah Winfrey, which will begin airing in June. The Pavilion is helmed by Jeremy Skidmore, world renowned theater director and current Guest Artistic Director of the Malibu Playhouse.

Broadway's Debbie Bisno Named Resident Producer of McCarter Theatre

McCarter Theatre Center's Resident Playwright/Artistic Director Emily Mann and Managing Director Timothy J. Shields have announced Debbie Bisno as the theatre's new Resident Producer. Ms. Bisno, a Broadway producer with two decades in the commercial and non-profit theatrical arenas, assumes her new leadership role immediately. Ms. Bisno will be based in Princeton as an important member of the artistic team at McCarter, and she will maintain and expand McCarter's relationships in NY, regionally, and abroad. Her existing company, Bisno Productions, will continue operations in Manhattan.

With the tragedy of 9/11, thousands of lives were turned upside down in an instant. Others were faced with a lingering sense of helplessness. As the hours, and in some cases days passed, there were attempts by many to locate loved ones who were unaccounted for in the aftermath. That painful waiting game plays out in Craig Wright's Recent Tragic Events produced by Interrobang Theatre Project.

 Interrobang Theatre Project is pleased to continue its 2015-16 Season, exploring "Unnatural Disasters," with RECENT TRAGIC EVENTS, a dark comedy set against the backdrop of 9/11, by Emmy-nominated playwright Craig Wright, directed by Co-Artistic Director Georgette Verdin*. RECENT TRAGIC EVENTS will play March 11 - April 10, 2016 at The Athenaeum Theatre (Studio 2), 2936 N. Southport Ave. in Chicago. HOME Live Art Installation Comes to Atlas Performing Arts Center Today

HOME is a live art installation that unravels the question of 'what is home?' created by artist-collaborators John Moletress and Eames Armstrong. Images of home constructed from child's toys, clothing and musical instruments are rendered unstable, destroyed and reconstructed in unfamiliar forms by the performers. This 5 hour durational performance will take place in the front windows of Atlas Performing Arts Center today, March 5, 4:00-9:00p. This event is presented as part of INTERSECTIONS FESTIVAL 2016.
