'Passing Strange' Concludes Run With Spike Lee's Filming

The long, strange trip is coming to an end: Passing Strange, the rock musical that was born at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, enjoyed an extended off-Broadway run at The Public Theater, and then burst onto Broadway with its original cast intact is scheduled to close this Sunday - but not until it's saved on film. On Saturday, celebrated director Spike Lee will shoot two of the show's final performances to preserve it for future generations!

A sweeping tale of love and friendship, set against the trials and tragedy of the blacklist of the 1950s, is the basis of Joe Gilford's Finks, directed by Charlie Stratton, that will receive its world premiere at Vassar and New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater with a cast led by Josh Radnor (star of CBS's How I Met Your Mother) and Tony Award-nominated Jennifer Westfeldt (Wonderful Town, Kissing Jessica Stein), July 23 - August 3.

Scott Cohen (Drunk Enough To Say I Love You at The Public, Losing Louie on Broadway, tv's Gilmore Girls + The Return of Jezebel James) has joined the cast of season opener THREE CHANGES by Nicky Silver. This completes casting for the first show of the season, which starts previews August 22 and also features Dylan McDermott and Maura Tierney.

Dylan McDermott Joins Cast of 'Three Changes' This Fall

Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Dylan McDermott has joined the cast of Playwrights Horizon's first production of the new season, the World Premiere of THREE CHANGES, a new play by Nicky Silver. Directed by Tony Award nominee Wilson Milam (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), the production will begin previews on Friday, August 22, 2008 with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 16. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, September 28 at Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Previews for the Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) World Premiere production of the new musical SAVED, which were scheduled to begin tonight, Friday, May 9, have been postponed due to a longer than expected tech process. Tonight's 8PM performance has been cancelled and the musical will now begin previews tomorrow evening, Saturday, May 10 at 8PM. (Please note: a matinee performance had not been scheduled for Saturday afternoon.)
