Twenty-three finalists from communities around the state have been selected in seven categories for 2019 Governor's Arts Awards, which will be presented at the 38thannual Governor's Arts Awards Dinner and Celebration on Thursday, March 7 at the Renaissance Downtown Phoenix, 100 N. 1st Street.

Fifty-nine individuals, arts organizations and advocates, small and large businesses and philanthropists from 19 communities statewide have been nominated for 2019 Governor's Arts Awards in eight categories. Finalists in each category will be announced at an invitation-only Nominees Reception in February. The 2019 Shelley Award honoree will be announced in January.

The very talented and versatile Sally Jo Bannow has a lot to say about the breast!...through song and vignette in THE BOOB SHOW, an original work developed in collaboration with Craig Bohmler and now premiering at Phoenix Theatre under the direction of Michael Barnard. A powerful theme ~ that defining a woman by the size and shape of her breast is demeaning and destructive ~ weaves throughout her performance but risks getting lost in periodic snarls of distraction. What a powerhouse of a one-woman show this would be if it were more focused and streamlined!

Theater Works is offering three ways to enjoy the Holidays with three different shows throughout December kicking off Today, December 3, 2016. A family musical with a story of giving, a soulful mix of Holiday music and a talent-filled cabaret come together for three weeks of holiday music. The Quiltmaker's Gift, Soul of Broadway Holiday and Santa's Helpers will be on stage in repertory through December 18. 2016 on the Gyder Stage at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. "We've got a lot of talent on this stage, and the holiday repertory shows are no exception," Artistic Director Chris Hamby says. "There is something for everyone at Theater Works."
