The LEGENDARY Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was in the house last night at Disney's hit production of ALADDIN on Broadway and after the show posed with the excited cast -- and BroadwayWorld.com was there to capture the magic moment (no lamp required!).
Broadway fans found everything from rare opening night gifts to classic original Playbills, met their favorite stars and bid on once-in-a-life-time experiences to push the grand total raised Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the 28th Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction to an all-time high of $713,986, for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program.
The American Theatre Wing held its annual gala last night, September 15 at The Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South), honoring Dame Angela Lansbury, who has served as Honorary Chairman of the American Theatre Wing Board of Trustees since 2010. On Thursday, September 11th at the Bruno Walter Auditorium, Stylist and Author George Brescia shared the stage with special guests talking all things fashion. Broadway Sessions takes place every Thursday evening at The Laurie Beechman Theater inside The West Bank Cafe located at 407 west 42nd street (corner of 42nd street and 9th avenue). 212-695-6909. Doors open at 10pm for open mic. Showtime at 11. $5 drink specials all night. $5 cover includes a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
