.Libertine Idol Productions and Charles Czarnecki present a staged reading of the world premiere of Erik Johannes von Ransom's GRINDR The Opera in concert on April 7th at 11:30am and April 9th at 3:00pm at Roy Arias Studios, 777 8th Avenue, New York. With direction by Rachel Klein (Around the World in 80 Days, The Anthem, Symphony of Shadows, The Tragedy of Maria Macabre), GRINDR The Opera is an unauthorized musical parody of the eponymous gay hook-up app that has sweepingly altered the course of modern gay intimacy. Randy Jones, the original Village People Cowboy, will host the readings.

Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) will honor Tony and Emmy Award-winning playwright and librettist Terrence McNally, whose art and activism have profoundly affected the visibility and understanding of HIV/AIDS. McNally will receive the 2014 Howard Ashman Award, named for the Grammy and Academy Award-winning lyricist, who passed away in 1991 due to complications from AIDS. The Howard Ashman award is given annually to honor theater professionals who have made a difference in the fight to end the epidemic.

NYMF to Stage Reading of IDAHO!, 4/25

Theatre professionals who missed IDAHO! at NYMF will have an opportunity to see it in staged reading this Friday, April 25th only. The new musical, named 'Best of Fest' was met with cascades of laughter during its sold-out run, prompting the festival to add extra performances. The show has been described as "a rollicking satire that takes the sexually-charged subtext of the classic musical and puts it front and center." One four-time Tony winning producer called it simply, "A hoot and a half!"

Prospect Theater Company will present a private developmental reading of the original musical The Underclassman on Monday, November 25th at New 42nd Street Studios (229 West 42nd Street, NYC). The Underclassman follows the early life of F. Scott Fitzgerald, from 1914 - 1917. Brilliantly talented, Fitzgerald is swept into the hierarchy of Ivy League society and the antics of the Princeton Triangle Club, in pursuit of the beautiful and elusive debutante Ginevra King - who became the model for the character of Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby.

Tonight, June 3, 2013, over a dozen Broadway performers will honor the life and lyrics of Howard Ashman at a concert for AIDS Walk New York, benefiting GMHC and 40 other AIDS service organizations in the tri-state area. Hosted at the Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Cafe, the concert will feature songs with lyrics written by Ashman throughout his career, from his Oscar-winning work in Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, to lesser known gems from Smile and songs originally written for Aladdin.
