We're now well into summer and the last Broadway season brought many new recordings for us to listen to and own. Also, some specialty recordings and solo entries.

BroadwayWorld.com has learned that the Tony-winning (for Best Special Theatrical Event) 'Liza's At the Palace' will be filmed this September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at the resort's Hollywood Theater. More details will be announced shortly, it's expected that the filming will contain all of the material she performed during her sold-out, Broadway run.

Cortes Alexander who just finished a sold-out Broadway run performing with Liza Minnelli in 'Liza's At The Palace...!', has also just completed recording his first solo album, Swell, releasing on March 16th.

On Monday evening, February 23 at 8:00pm, the Broadway community (and beyond) came together for one of the most important events of the year - Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert -- A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights, a one-night only concert event at the Gershwin Theatre (222 W. 51st Street). BroadwayWorld.com was there to celebrate the historic and emotional evening!

Liza Minnelli kicked-off the new release with a 'singing & signing' event at Barnes & Noble store, she was joined by her Broadway co-stars (who are also featured on the cd), Johnny Rodgers, Cortes Alexander, Jim Caruso and Tiger Martina. Billy Stritch led the evening on piano as musical director, BWW TV was there to cheer along as the iconic Minnelli made the night a special standing room only event!

Liza Minnelli and her Broadway co-stars, Johnny Rodgers, Cortes Alexander, Jim Caruso and Tiger Martina have found a happy home on the Billboard charts. Billboard is reporting that the cast cd has debuted at the number 3 spot on the Cast Album chart listing. The daughter of Judy Garland most recently charted in July 1996 with 'Gently,' which peaked at No. 156 on The Billboard 200.

Barbara Walters let slip a bit of interesting information that we have heard rumblings about the last couple of weeks on The View-that Liza Minnelli may be be taking her 'At the Palace' show on the road to an as of yet unknown Los Angeles venue.

Liza's at the Palace...! ended her extented run yesterday, January 4th, 2009. Produced by John Scher/Metropolitan Talent Presents & Jubilee Time Productions the show was directed and choreographed by Ron Lewis. Gary Labriola served as Executive Producer.
