Writer, Comedian and Cancer Survivor Jenny Allen to Speak at City Theatre

City Theatre, in partnership with Classic Lines Bookstore, will host writer, comedian, and cancer-survivor Jenny Allen in a one-night-only City Event, Monday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m., with special guest host Kristy Nolen. Allen's latest book, a collection of essays titled Would Everybody Please Stop?, explores everything from chemotherapy to empty nesting, all with her signature wry humor.

City Theatre Begins Season with A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGY UNIT AT MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING CANCER CENTER

City Theatre dives into a fresh season of new plays with an off-Broadway hit comedy by playwright Halley Feiffer, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City. Directed by City Theatre newcomer Joshua Kahan Brody, the production runs on the Main Stage September 23 - October 15, 2017. Tickets are on sale now.

MOMENTUM '17: City Theatre presents Festival of New Plays

City Theatre is excited to announce the plays and events included in Momentum '17: New Plays at Different Stages, the South Side theater company's annual festival of new play development. The annual festival will run from May 31 - June 4, 2017 and will include three public presentations of plays - plus one musical - at different stages in the development process, a closed reading of new work by a Young Playwrights Festival Alumnus, a Happy Hour/Artists Meet & Greet with Urbanist Pittsburgh, and an interactive opportunity to participate in conversation with local playwright Tami Dixon for an upcoming project. The readings and events are free and open to the public. Cast Announced for Sheila Callaghan & Daniella Topol's (NOT) WATER at 3LD

New Georges will present the World Premiere of (NOT) WATER co-conceived by Sheila Callaghan and Daniella Topol, written by Sheila Callaghan and directed by Daniella Topol as part of Works On Water, a month-long, multi-disciplinary art event that presents multiple artistic perspectives on water in a global context, at the 3LD Art & Technology Center.

City Theatre Announces Three Adventurous New Plays for the 2017-2018 Season

City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden has announced the first three plays of the 2017-18 season. The South Side company's 43rd season will kick off with a trio of adventurous Pittsburgh premieres, including The Old Man and The Old Moon by PigPen Theatre Company, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City by Halley Feiffer,and the world premiere of Citizens Market by Cori Thomas. Also on the schedule is the original Late Nite Catechismas a limited-run City Event. Full season subscriptions are on sale now; three more plays will be announced in April.

Rajiv Joseph Honored with DGA's 2017 Horton Foote Playwriting Award

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced they will present the 2017 Horton Foote Playwriting Award to playwright Rajiv Joseph at the Dramatists Guild's annual awards presentations Monday, February 27, 2017, at the French Institute/Alliance Francaise.
