Old-fashioned and sweetly sentimental, The Silver Whistle is a gentle theatrical comedy about a group of downtrodden senior citizens during the Great Depression who are yearning to find something to lift them out of their own collective doldrums and allow them to once again be vital, productive human beings. Luckily, for this particular group of seniors - all of whom live in the 'old people's home' of the Church of John in some unnamed American city - their ho-hum existence is upended by the unexpected arrival of Oliver T. Erwenter, a fast-talking, silver-tongued huckster, who may have discovered the Fountain of Youth.

The New Orleans Ballet Association and The NOCCA Institute join in the international celebration of the centennial of a trailblazing choreographer and the father of multi-media dance theatre in the Alwin Nikolais Centennial on November 19 and 20 in three performances at NOCCA's Freda Lupin Memorial Hall. Sponsored by the Susan and Donald Newhouse Center for the Humanities at Wellesley College, it will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct.15-16. All events are free and open to the public.

Due to rights issues, Flux Theatre Ensemble will not be producing Archibald MacLeish's play, J.B. as previously planned. In its place, Flux will be staging the world premiere of August Schulenburg's JACOB'S HOUSE, a play inspired by the loss of J.B. Playwright August Schulenburg has taken the themes, style, design elements, staging concept, and cast from Flux's planned production of J.B., and used them as inspiration to write his own unique riff on the story of Jacob wrestling the Angel.
