Camerimage Film Festival to Commemorate Late Jerzy Lipman

Camerimage, the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, announced today that the late Polish cinematographer Jerzy Lipman will be celebrated at this year's Festival as part of the special “Remembering the Masters” series.

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 2 & 3), written by Public Theater Master Writer Chair Suzan-Lori Parks. Directed by Jo Bonney, FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 2 & 3) begins previews on Tuesday, October 14 and runs through Sunday, November 16, with an official press opening on Tuesday, October 28.

Tickets to BEYOND GLORY at the Orpheum, Starring Stephen Lang, Now On Sale

Following a celebrated run on Broadway and in Chicago, BEYOND GLORY, starring Stephen Lang, will perform for one night only at the Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, November 22nd. Dan O'Brien & Suzan-Lori Parks to Receive 2014 The Horton Foote Prize

Mari Marchbanks announced today the 2014 recipients of the Horton Foote Prize, named in honor of the legendary writer, to award excellence in American Theater. Presented biennially, the 2014 Prize for the 2012-13/2013-14 seasons' Outstanding New American Play is awarded to The Body of an American by Dan O'Brien. The 2014 Prize for Promising New American Play is awarded to Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3) by Suzan-Lori Parks.

'The President's Own' U.S. Marine Band to Play Morrison Center, 9/24

The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts presents 'The President's Own' United States Marine Band. As part of the Marine Band 2014 national concert tour they will perform Wednesday, September 24th at 7:30 PM at the Morrison Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

BWW Reviews: Strawshop's BLACK COMEDY Brings Comedy Into the Light

When physical comedy is done well it can be a beautiful thing. I still marvel at a seven-minute bit David Hyde Pierce did with an ironing board on the show Frasier (seriously, go look it up). But good physical comedy is not easy. Fortunately for us the cast of Strawberry Theatre Workshop's production of "Black Comedy" are more than up to the task as they presented one of the funniest displays of physical comedy I've seen in town since "Boeing Boeing" a few years back.
