ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE (EST) and The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation will present the World Premiere of Behind the Sheet, written by Charly Evon Simpson

The Players Club of Swarthmore presents Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, a comedy by Alan Ball, directed by Heather Timberman, on the Raymond W. Smith stage. Performances are January 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., January 27 at 2 p.m., January 31 at 7:30, February 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door, or in advance at www.pcstheater.org or 866-811-4111. Our Time Players is a Manhattan-based not-for-profit theatre company consisting solely of twenty-something's, whose mission it is to provide opportunity for emerging artists in New York City. Recently noted for their Off-Broadway production of 'Party Worth Crashing: The Music of Kerrigan and Lowdermilk,' Our Time Players is excited and ready to produce their winter drama!

The State Theatre will host a special Valentine's edition of Stage on Stage featuring Charlie Romo on Friday, February 8th.  The State Theatre main stage will be transformed into a "club" atmosphere, with the performers and the audience both on stage.  A cash bar will also be available on stage. The Valentine Stage on Stage is presented by RMG Insurance and includes Special guest Colette Boudreaux accompanied by Charity Wicks.

Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, and Toby Regbo have all joined the pilot for HBO's 'Game of Thrones' prequel in series regular roles, according to Variety.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents The Empress Arias: songs from the ICONS/IDOLS plays, on February 8. ICONS/IDOLS is a tetralogy of choral plays for over a dozen women+ singers. Mixing music, movement and text, the four plays recover the secret history of Byzantine Purple Empresses as they ascend in a society with deep animosity towards female rule. Deeply committed to religious icons, these powerful empresses sacrifice personal relationships in an attempt to gain enough power to re-introduce them into an empire that fiercely and violently opposes iconography. The Empress Arias pair powerful multi-part harmonies with glittering ballads, commanding chants and soaring operatic solos to form a unique and beautiful evening of song. The development of ICONS/IDOLS received funding from OPERA America's Opera Grants for Female Composers program, supported by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation, and has been developed in The Jam, New Georges' performance lab for early career female artists, as well as The Tank, a home for emerging artists. The project is currently supported by the IRT/New Ohio Archive Residency for its 2018-2020 cycle.

According to Collider, the nominations have been announced for the 2019 Dorian Awards. The awards celebrate the best and brightest in film, TV, artistic accomplishment of the year.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) has announced the theater directors chosen to develop new plays and musicals as part of the 2019 Drama League Artist Residency Program. Public work-in-progress presentations of each residency will be held periodically throughout the year at The Drama League Theater Center, 32 Avenue of the Americas, in Tribeca. GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS has announced the release of Hundred Days, the original cast recording of the critically acclaimed new musical, on CD in stores and online today, Friday, November 30. The unique album was recorded with a live studio audience that captures the excitement and emotion of the original production. It was released in streaming and digital formats earlier this season. Ensemble Studio Theatre and The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation announced today casting for the World Premiere of Behind the Sheet, written by Charly Evon Simpson (Jump) and directed by Colette Robert (Mary's Wedding).

NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance will present L'Enfant et Les Sortileges (The Child and the Magic Spells) from November 30 to December 2. The one-act opera features music by Maurice Ravel and libretto by Colette and will be sung in English. NYU Steinhardt's Garth Bardsley directs.

This morning, Film Independent announced the nominations for the 2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The Spirit Awards are the primary fundraiser for Film Independent's year-round programs, which cultivate the careers of emerging filmmakers and promote diversity in the industry. Film Independent President Josh Welsh presided over the press conference held at the W Hotel in Hollywood, with actors Gemma Chan and Molly Shannon presenting the nominations. Nominees for Best Feature included Eighth Grade, First Reformed, If Beale Street Could Talk, Leave No Trace and You Were Never Really Here.
