The multi-talented musicians of The Fourth Wall are well-known to Winnipeg Fringe audiences. With sold-out shows at each of the past two festivals (2016, 2017), the trio is often nicknamed 'The Fruit Flies,' after their award-winning variety show Fruit Flies Like a Banana. Fringe fans may be surprised to learn that, rather than return with a new version of the Fruit Flies... format, The Fourth Wall will be bringing a new show to the 2018 festival, entitled Fallen From the Toy Box.

On Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 8:00pm, Spectrum presents contemporary Chinese-American pianist Jenny Q Chai in Sonorous Brushes, a new multi-sensory program employing Chai's unique form of synesthesia. The program explores repertoire that lives at the intersection of color and sound, exploring this meeting of the senses through important works of the colorful Impressionistic era paired with new works created using Artificial Intelligence technology. In order to fully realize this concept, Chai completed a six-month residency at Cite des Arts in Paris, where she worked simultaneously on the musical performance and the paintings associated with each score. Sonorous Brushes was designed and premiered at Wigmore Hall in London on June 26, 2018.

Teatro Colon will present the 1902 opera in five acts, PELEAS Y MELISANDE, on August 31 and September 2, 4, and 7.

Nicholas Phan's new solo album for Avie Records – Illuminations – drops this Friday, April 20, on the heels of his 2018 Grammy nomination for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album. On the new recording, the tenor reunites with his long-time recital partner, pianist Myra Huang, besides joining forces with the adventurous Brooklyn-based orchestral collective, The Knights, and the award-winning Telegraph Quartet. Comprising compositions by Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy, and Gabriel Fauré, the album is a collection of vocal music inspired by the poetry of two scandalous figures of the Parisian Belle Epoque, Paul Verlaine and his younger lover, Arthur Rimbaud.
