A paragon of classical music, famed pianist Maurizio Pollini will perform in recital at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m., marking the 50th anniversary year of his Carnegie Hall debut. The program features Chopin's Prelude in C-sharp Minor, Op. 45; Barcarolle in F-sharp Major, Op. 60; and Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat Minor, Op. 35, as well as the second book of Debussy's Préludes.

Edward Gardner To Make NY Philharmonic Debut With Artist-in-Residence Leif Ove Andsnes

Edward Gardner will make his New York Philharmonic debut conducting Debussy's Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra, featuring The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Leif Ove Andsnes in his final appearances with the Orchestra in that role. The program will also include Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra and Sibelius's Pohjola's Daughter. The performances will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 8:00 p.m.; they will perform the same program at Long Island University's Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 27 at 8:00 p.m.

Festival Ballet Providence is thrilled announce this year's season finale, Little Mermaid.  Choreographed by Mark Diamond, this family show invites audiences to dive into the underwater world of the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. The production will incorporate exciting multi-media elements, complete with extraordinary sets and imaginative costumes -- and a full cast of characters, including students from the Festival Ballet Providence School. Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet will pay homage to Claude Debussy on this 100th anniversary of the great composer's death with a world premiere by resident choreographer Constantine Baecher, former member of the Royal Danish Ballet, along with Magloire's 'Two Friends,' both set to music by Debussy. Also on the program are recently premiered Magloire works to music by contemporary Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, April 6 & 7 at 8 PM in City Center Studio 5.

Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra Debut Honors National Poetry Month In Concert

Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra (CCCO), the region's newest professional orchestra, announces its debut concert Here at the Edge of the Sea, on Sunday, April 15, 3 pm, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 533 Main Street, Rt. 28, Harwich Port, conducted by Music Director Matthew Scinto. The performance features a collaboration with Cape Cod Writers Center, honoring National Poetry Month. Featuring poetry-inspired music, the program includes Cape poet Judith Askew's "Here at the Edge of the Sea" set to original music by noted Boston composer-conductor Francis Snyder. In addition, poetry authored by students from Harwich's Monomoy Regional High School will be on display in the church sanctuary.

Stanislav Ioudenitch, Artistic Director of Park International Center for Music (Park ICM), announced today that their spring season kicks off in March with a world-class European performer never before heard in Kansas City and in one of Kansas City's acoustical gems, the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kansas. "We adore performing in the wonderful spaces of the 1900 Building," said Ioudenitch. "Between their 300-seat Parkway Room and their more intimate Rose Hall (75-150), they can accommodate our different needs as both of their halls can be "tuned" according to our performance requirements. It is truly a hidden jewel that is just being discovered in the Kansas City arts public."

HK Phil Presents an Ocean-Themed Programme Including Debussy's La Mer, Mendelssohn's The Hebrides Overture And Toshio Hosokawa's Circulating Ocean

Jun Markl is known for his refined and idiomatic explorations of the French impressionists. In this concert, he marks the centenary of the death of one of France's most famous composers, Claude Debussy, with a performance of his famous evocation of the sea in all its moods, La Mer. Markl will also lead the HK Phil in the Hong Kong premiere of Circulating Ocean, a richly colourful score by Japanese contemporary composer Toshio Hosokawa. The programme also includes Mendelssohn's The Hebrides Overture which portrays the violent seas off the west coast of Scotland, and the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla's highly atmospheric piano concerto, Nights in the Gardens of Spain, performed by Argentinean pianist Ingrid Fliter. (A change from the advertised programme made at the request of the soloist.)

On the heels of a triumphant album release, Bay-Area pianist Jeffrey LaDeur celebrates the centennial year of Claude Debussy (1862-1918) with his Carnegie Hall Debut in Weill Recital Hall. On Sunday March 25th, LaDeur builds narratives across centuries of French music in a performance of Debussy's Etudes (1915) with additional works of Couperin and Chopin that influenced Debussy's final masterpiece for piano.
