The celebrated Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will perform at the 18th New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes on Wednesday, June 27 at 7pm at the Americas Society, 680 Park Avenue, New York. The Duo will be joined by Brazilian guitarist João Luiz in a concert celebrating Music from the Americas. In addition to works by Brazilian composers Piazzolla, Machado, Jobim, Simas, Clarice Assad, Villa-Lobos and Bellinati, the program will also feature works by US native Paul Moravec and Argentinean Astor Piazzolla. The concert is produced in partnership with the Americas Society, and part of the New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes that takes place from June 26 to July 1. On Friday, June 22, 2018, American classical guitar duo, Duo Noire (Thomas Flippin and Christopher Mallett), releases Night Triptych, an album of world premiere recordings of newly commissioned works by six highly accomplished and diverse women composers from around the world, on New Focus Recordings. Produced with GRAMMY-winning guitarist William Coulter, the album features Clarice Assad'sHocus Pocus, Courtney Bryan's Soli Deo Gloria, Golfam Khayam's Night Triptych, Mary Kouyoumdjian's Byblos, Gity Razaz's Four Haikus, and Gabriella Smith's Loop the Fractal Hold of Rain, all composed for Duo Noire. The album is the culmination of a project Duo Noire, the first two African-American guitar graduates of the Yale School of Music, launched in 2015 to make classical music more gender inclusive, and was supported with a grant from the Diller-Quaile School of Music.
On Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 9:30pm (doors 9pm), the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), will perform the music of the late Icelandic composer Johann Johannsson at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St., NYC) as part of the venue's 10th anniversary celebration, LPR X. The concert will include selections from Johannsson's first concert in New York, which took place in 2009 at Le Poisson Rouge, with ACME. ACME artistic director Clarice Jensen will also perform bc for solo cello and tape loops, a piece that she co-composed with Johannsson last year, which is included on her 2018 debut solo album For this from that will be filled (Miasmah).

Cellist Clarice Jensen, artistic director of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), releases her debut solo album, For this from that will be filled, worldwide on Miasmah Recordings on April 6, 2018. She celebrates the release with a concert featuring music from the album presented by the Ambient Church Series on April 7, 2018 at 8pm (doors 7pm), at Bushwick Methodist Church (1139 Bushwick Ave.). The Ambient Church concert also celebrates the release of electronic artist Christina Vantzou's new album, No. 4, and includes the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), Steve Hauschildt, Deradoorian, John Also Bennett, and C. This five-act comedy deftly employs a vivid language of rare virtuosity. The play runs at the Berkeley Street Theatre from April 11 to 22, in French with English surtitles.
