2016 Midwinter's First Night Set for Sunday, January 10

Justin Boyd, Britt Byrd, Katherine Morgan and Taylor Novak will team up to host 2016 Midwinter's First Night - set for Sunday night, January 10, 2016 - and to ride herd on First Night founder and executive producer Jeffrey Ellis for the presentation of the BWW Nashville Awards and the presentation of First Night's Top 10 of 2016.

The City Theatre Will Bring STEEL MAGNOLIAS to Austin This Thanksgiving Weekend

Fall in love with the ladies of Truvy's Beauty Salon all over again! The City Theatre proudly presents the holiday production of Robert Harling's comedic gem, Steel Magnolias. Under the direction of CTC Artistic Director Andy Berkovsky, performances begin November 20through January 3rd at The City Theatre. Two shows Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday and Sunday, November 28th and 29th.

Austin's City Theatre's THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940 to Run 10/23-11/15

Mystery and murder is the entertainment choice this Halloween season! However, this time it's complete with Nazi saboteurs, secret passageways, flickering lights... and, well, the blizzard of the century. That is indeed the case as Austin's City Theatre's continues its 10th anniversary season shooting squarely at the funny bone with John Bishop's comedy thriller The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. The show runs four weekends October 23 - November 15.

Zachary Quinto Will Lead Noah Haidle's SMOKEFALL at MCC; Opens in February

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) has announced that Emmy® Award nominee Zachary Quinto will lead the cast of the New York premiere of Smokefall, by Noah Haidle and directed by Anne Kauffman, who directed The Nether for MCC last season to great acclaim. Smokefall continues MCC Theater's season at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street) with previews beginning February 4, 2016 and an opening night set for February 22. It is scheduled through March 13. Single tickets will go on sale January 5, 2016, but advanced tickets are currently available via subscription packages at www.mcctheater.org.

Squeaky Bicycle Stages TEN WAYS ON A GUN at Theater for the New City Tonight

Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Executive Director) will present Squeaky Bicycle Productions' World Premiere of Dylan Lamb's dark comedy Ten Ways on a Gun, directed by Kathryn McConnell (Pop Dies in Vegas) tonight, October 9-25 at the Community Space Theater at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue between 9th and 10th Streets). Performances will be October 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 & 24 at 8pm; October 12 at 7pm; October 11 & 25 at 3pm.Tickets ($15 in advance; $18 at the door) are available online at www.squeakybicycleproductions.com or by calling SmartTix at 212-868-4444. The show runs approximately 2 hours, including intermission. 

LOVE ALONE to Open City Theatre's 10th Anniversary Season

Opening City Theatre's 10th anniversary season, the Austin premiere play Love Alone by Deborah Salem Smith pulls no punches as it lays bare the emotions of two families after a routine medical procedure goes tragically wrong. The New York Times calls Love Alone a, "lucid, deeply nuanced and fearless work." The Boston Globe calls it "…first rate…a gleaming gem." And The Providence Journal says Love Alone is 'thought-provoking, well-written, and just darn good theater.' The show runs three weekends October 2 - 18.

Diversionary's West Coast Premiere of AMAZONS AND THEIR MEN Begins Tonight

Diversionary Theatre is proud to kick-off preview performances tonight at 8pm for the innovative launch season of new Executive Artistic Director: Matt M. Morrow.  The 30th anniversary for the non-profit will invite beloved audiences to five remarkable San Diego premiere productions.  The first piece of this landmark year; Amazons and Their Men, is a West Coast Premiere that will feature Mr. Morrow's San Diego directing debut.
