Pump Boys and Dinettes, the final production of the 2014 Encores! Off-Center series, will star Jordan Dean,Hunter Foster, Mamie Parris, Randy Redd, Katie Thompson and Lorenzo Wolff. Pump Boys, running July 16 - 19, will be directed by Lear deBessonet and choreographed by Danny Mefford. Jeanine Tesori is the Encores! Off-Center artistic director; Chris Fenwick is the music director.

MTC's THE LION Begins Rehearsals

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of THE LION, the new musical written and performed by 2013 ASCAP Cole Porter Songwriting Award winner Benjamin Scheuer, and directed by Sean Daniels is now in rehearsal. The five-week limited engagement for THE LION will begin previews on Tuesday, June 10 and open Thursday, June 26 as the second production of MTC's 2013-2014 season of The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street).
John Doyle to Direct ALLEGRO at Classic Stage Company, Beginning Nov 2014?

Classic Stage Company just posted an Equity audition notice hunting for actor-musicians to star in ALLEGRO, directed by John Doyle with musical direction by Mary Mitchell Campbell. According to the listing, the production is slated to begin rehearsals in September for a first preview on November 1, 2014.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines and hosted by Norm Lewis, brought the best of Broadway to Shubert Alley this morning, featuring numbers from nearly 25 shows, which were accompanied by a live 12-piece orchestra. BroadwayWorld was on the scene to capture the alley-shaking performances, including Sierra Boggess and Jeremy Hays performing 'All I Ask of You' and Lewis singing 'Music of the Night'. Now through June 1, 2014 Houston Ballet offers up a mixed repertory program showcasing works by three of the twentieth century's greatest choreographers entitled Modern Masters. The program features the company premiere of Jir?i? Kylia?n's comic and delightful Sechs Ta?nze (Six Dances), along with revivals of his playful and sexy work Petite Mort, William Forsythe's explosive In the middle, somewhat elevated and George Balanchine's complex and inventive The Four Temperaments. Houston Ballet will give six performances of the program in the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of WHEN WE WERE YOUNG AND UNAFRAID, the new play by Sarah Treem ('House of Cards,' 'In Treatment'), directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Clybourne Park), begins performances tonight at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). Ensemble 212 presents its Season Finale & Young Artist Showcase Concert on Saturday, May 31st at 8:30pm at Merkin Concert Hall featuring the Grand Prize Winners of the 2013-14 Young Artist Competition and the world premiere of Ke-Chia Chen's Wind Dance for String Orchestra!written especially for and commissioned by Ensemble 212 for its 10th anniversary. Two exceptionally talented young musicians will have a chance to perform with the orchestra: Grand Prize Winner of the 2013-14 Young Artist Competition, violinist Alice Ivy- Pemberton and cellist Derek Louie, 2nd Prize Winner. The concert opens and closes with exuberant classical works, Mozart's Impresario Overture and Beethoven's Symphony No. 1.
A silent auction featuring unique artwork by local artists will be held in the lobby.
Tony Yazbeck, Jay Armstrong Johnson & Clyde Alves to Play Sailors in ON THE TOWN Broadway Revival

Tony Yazbeck (Gypsy, A Chorus Line), Jay Armstrong Johnson (New York Philharmonic's Sweeney Todd, Hands On A Hardbody, Hair), and Clyde Alves (Bullets Over Broadway, Nice Work If You Can Get It) will play the roles of 'Gabey,' 'Chip,' and 'Ozzie' - the sailors on 24-hour shore leave who take on the Big Apple in the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN, directed by John Rando (Tony Award for Urinetown) and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse (Emmy Award winner for 'Smash'). Yazbeck, Johnson, and Alves will reprise their performances from last summer's acclaimed Barrington Stage production. Yazbeck first thrilled audiences with his portrayal of 'Gabey' in John Rando's presentation of ON THE TOWN at City Center Encores in 2008.
