The centerpiece of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Lincoln Center engagement is The Ailey Spirit Gala on Thursday, June 15th. This one-night-only benefit performance and party honors Ailey Board Vice Chairman Stephen Meringoff for his longtime support of Ailey, and his instrumental role in strengthening and sustaining AileyCamp. Critically-acclaimed actor Andre Holland, who most recently appeared in the eight-time Oscar-nominated film Moonlight, has just been announced as Honorary Chair. Holland will be seen in the upcoming Ava DuVernay film A Wrinkle in Time and Hulu's Castle Rock, produced by J.J. Abrams.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater announces Moonlight x Ailey, a new dance film short choreographed by Artistic Director Robert Battle in a unique collaboration with Academy Award-winning composer Nicholas Britell. Inspired by the critically-acclaimed drama Moonlight, Best Picture winner at the 74th Annual Golden Globe® Awards and nominated for eight Oscars® at next week's Academy Awards®, the blue-lit movements are danced by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Jamar Roberts, and The Ailey School students Christopher Taylor and Jeremy T. Villas. Robert Battle, the film's director Barry Jenkins, and playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney are from Miami's Liberty City neighborhood - the setting for Moonlight.
The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra announces Steve Gerber as the winner of the 2014-2015 Pursuit of the Podium: The Search for Ann Arbor's Next Celebrity Conductor. The fundraiser spanned the entirety of the A2SO's 2014-2015 season, and raised almost $20,000 for our education and outreach programs.

Also on the program, a New York premiere for string sextet by Charles Wuorinen. Featured artists: JACK Quartet, pianist Steven Beck, Vox n Plux, violist Miranda Cuckson and cellist Jay Campbell. The performances feature Bacewicz's Overture for Orchestra, Lutoslawski's Piano Concerto with Christopher Taylor, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.
