The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) announces the November 17 release of its latest recording Concertos for Orchestra, the second under Music Director Louis Langree. The recording features the world premieres of three concertos for orchestra commissioned by the CSO: Zhou Tian's Concerto for Orchestra, Thierry Escaich's Psalmos and Sebastian Currier's FLEX.
The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by seven-time Grammy winner and piano superstar Emanuel Ax on December 3 at 8 p.m. and December 4 at 2 p.m. Both concerts will be lead by Music Director Eric Jacobsen and will be held at Bob Carr Theater, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando, Florida.
Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of HK Gruber's Piano Concerto - a Philharmonic co-commission with the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic orchestras - with pianist Emanuel Ax as soloist; Weill's Little Threepenny Music for Wind Orchestra; and Schubert's Symphony No. 2. The performances will take place Thursday, January 5, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 7 at 8:00 p.m.

The 94th season of the New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts (YPCs) will continue on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with "Classical," the second program in this season's series, The Ages of Music - each program exploring the sound, composers, and culture of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras, respectively. The Santa Barbara Symphony and its unionized musicians have agreed on a new labor contract. The American Federation of Musicians Local 308, which represents the Symphony's 76 performers, voted to approve the deal following negotiations over the summer. The union ratification was announced Friday.
