Joshua Gersen to Lead the Adelphi Orchestra in NYC Benefit Concert 6/11

Joshua Gersen, New York Philharmonic Assistant Conductor will guest conduct the Adelphi Orchestra in a sumptuous concert of French masterworks on June 11th at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center in New York City.  Adelphi Orchestra's benefit concert for the orchestra's Young Artist Program "Une Fete en France" will showcase a former Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist Competition winner as guest soloist and will recognize the former winners and current finalists of the Adelphi Orchestra's Young Artist Program.  The concert's goal is to generate funds to support future outstanding young musicians through the Young Artist Program's endeavors.

American Composers Orchestra Holds 26th Underwood New Music Readings Next Month

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) continues its 40th anniversary season and its commitment to serving as a catalyst for the creation and development of new orchestral music with the 26th Annual Underwood New Music Readings on Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23, 2017 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music (450 W. 37th St., NYC).

American Modern Ensemble Presents VOICE OF AMERICA, 6/15-18

The acclaimed American Modern Ensemble (AME), that spotlights American music via lively thematic programming, presents Voice of America – a program of vocal music written in the past five years. Also featuring works by Robert Maggio and Luna Pearl Woolf, the program is highlighted by two collaborations between composer (and AME founder) Robert Paterson and writer David Cote: the New York premiere of their song cycle about online dating, In Real Life; and a selection of arias from Three Way, a trio of one-act comic operas that will have its New York premiere engagement June 15-18 at BAM.

Alan Gilbert Conducts Final Weeks with the NY Philharmonic

Music Director Alan Gilbert begins his final weeks by leading the New York Philharmonic in Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. The program juxtaposes the tragedy and optimism of human experience through Schoenberg's depiction of the horror of the Holocaust and the message of hope, brotherhood, and joy in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw will feature Gabriel Ebert as narrator (in his Philharmonic debut) and the men of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, directed by Joe Miller. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony will feature soprano Camilla Tilling, mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack (debut), tenor Joseph Kaiser (debut), bass-baritone Eric Owens, and the Westminster Symphonic Choir, directed by Joe Miller. The performances will take place Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 5 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. The program will be presented without intermission.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of HK Gruber's Piano Concerto - a Philharmonic co-commission with the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic orchestras - with pianist Emanuel Ax as soloist; Weill's Little Threepenny Music for Wind Orchestra; and Schubert's Symphony No. 2. The performances will take place Today, January 5, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 7 at 8:00 p.m.

New York Philharmonic Presents BELOVED FRIEND - TCHAIKOVSKY AND HIS WORLD, 1/24-2/11

The New York Philharmonic will present Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World: A Philharmonic Festival, January 24-February 11, 2017, featuring Russian-born Semyon Bychkov conducting works by Tchaikovsky as well as composers he was influenced by and whom he influenced, with piano soloists Yefim Bronfman and Kirill Gerstein.
