Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda The Musical is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage), who helms this production with a book by Tony Award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australian comedian, musician, and composer Tim Minchin. The Matilda The Musical national tour kicked off the 2015/16 season at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre last night, where it plays through September 6, 2015. While the show doesn't officially open until August 20, theatre-goers were distressed after last night's first preview, when the show reportedly struggled to make it to the final bow. The performances began a whopping hour and a half late, keeping guests waiting outside without an explanation from the staff.
