A bright ray of light burst on the Great White Way this past week and gave us a wee bit of hope in this bleakest of seasons, no it wasn't a brand new Broadway bound hit, well not in the strictest sense, it was a young boy from New Orleans who dared to make his musical theatre dreams come true.

POZ's 'Bacharch to the Future' Fundraiser brought music and promise to the New World Stages on Monday, December 1, 2008, World AIDS Day. The premier performance of Bacharach to the Future, a fund-raiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, honored music legend Burt Bacharach, the composer of 'That's What Friends Are For,' the pioneering recording that benefited The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) in 1985.

The cast of IN THE HEIGHTS will perform the opening number 'In The Heights' live Thursday, November 27, at 9am (EST) on NBC's 'Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.'
MTV's 90-minute documentary 'Britney: For The Record,' about the singers return to the music spotlight features her visit to see IN THE HEIGHTS, including a backstage visit with the cast, and a post show dinner with cast members of the musical. MTV's 'Britney Spears: For The Record' airs November 30, at 10pm (EST).

The 22ND ANNUAL BROADWAY FLEA MARKET & GRAND AUCTION was held this Sunday, September 21 from 10 AM - 7 PM in Shubert Alley (225 West 45th Street). Celebrities of theater and daytime television came out to show their support. As in previous years, Broadway and daytime fans had the opportunity to get their photo taken with various celebrities at the Celebrity Photo Booths. On Tuesday, September 16th Barnes & Noble Lincoln Square store hosted performances and a CD signing by the cast of 2008 Tony Award-winning Best Musical In The Heights. The performance was followed by a CD signing. Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Square is located at 1972 Broadway at 66th Street.
