Theatre Exile to Stage RED SPEEDO, Opening 11/5

Theatre Exile begins its season examining the dark side of the American Dream with the Philadelphia Premiere of Lucas Hnath's Red Speedo. This taut, darkly comic new play runs October 30-November 23 at Theatre Exile's Studio X, 1340 S. 13th Street (13th and Reed Streets.) Opening Night is Wednesday, November 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $25-$40 and are available online at www.theatreexile.org or by phone (215) 218-4022.

ARCADIA Opens Lantern Theatre Company's 21st Season Tonight

Lantern Theater Company will open its 21st season with a production of Arcadia by Tom Stoppard in an extended five-week run from today, September 25 - November 2, 2014. To coincide with this production, the Lantern will also present In Arcadia: Celebrating Tom Stoppard's Masterpiece, a four-day festival featuring a panel discussion about the play's rich and varied themes with Stoppard expert Toby Zinman, a high tea, special performances of some of Stoppard's rarely-performed short works, and other experiential events from October 23 - 26.

2014 Barrymore Award Nominees Announced by Theatre Philadelphia

Theatre Philadelphia is thrilled to announce the nominees for the 2014 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre, including over 140 total nominations spanning 26 categories. The all-new Barrymore Awards Ceremony will be held Monday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. at The Merriam Theater at 250 S. Broad Street, immediately followed by an After-Party in the Commonwealth Plaza at The Kimmel Center.

People's Light & Theatre presents a free one-night only classical concert tonight, August 28 at 7:30 pm on the Steinbright Stage. Guest artists Jay Ansill, mandolin and celtic harp and Christopher Colucci, classical guitar will perform an evening of classical works by Bach, Satie and others.

Theatre Exile presents its annual fundraiser Cabaret of the Exiled, an evening of performances starring the actors and artists who have graced Exile stages over the last 17 years, with a few special guest stars and surprise acts, all in support of the company's work. Exile will start the summer off right, with live music, standup comedy, great food and silent auction packages tonight, June 19th, at The Ruba Club, 414 Green Street.

InterAct Theatre Company to Premiere DOWN PAST PASSYUNK, 4/4-27

InterAct Theatre Company brings to the stage the world premiere production of A. Zell Williams' Down Past Passyunk, inspired by the controversy stirred up by Philadelphia landmark Geno's Steaks. Down Past Passyunk runs from April 4 - 27, 2014 with previews from April 4 - 6. Press opening is April 9 at 7p.m. InterAct Theatre Company is located at 2030 Sansom Street. Performances will be held Tuesday - Sunday. Lantern Theater Company, critically acclaimed in Philadelphia for their annual Shakespearean offering, presents The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as the highlight of their 20th season. Directed by the Lantern's Artistic Director Charles McMahon and starring Tony Award-nominated actor Forrest McClendon in the title role, the Lantern's production is inspired by the warrior ethos of feudal Japan, calling into question the rights of the ruler against the rights of his people. Performances run tonight, February 6 - March 16, 2014.
