Bay Area Cabaret has announced that it will follow-up last season's resoundingly successful series of 'Perfect Pairings' duet concerts with an illustrious line-up of nationally renowned Broadway and jazz divas. Bay Area Cabaret's fifth season will kick-off on Sunday, November 16 at 7pm with popular Broadway veteran Christine Andreas celebrating the great women of musical theatre at the historic Empire Ballroom of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.
Jayne Atkinson Joins BLITHE SPIRIT Revival Cast

Variety reports that Jayne Atkinson has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway revival of 'Blithe Spirit,' Atkinson will play the bride of Everett's character, who is plagued by the ghost of his deceased first wife (Ebersole). Atkinson was last on Broadway in 'Enchanted April' in 2003.

42nd Street Moon to Present 'High Spirits' in March

Greg MacKellan, artistic director of 42nd Street Moon, today announced that the company would postpone the production of The Baker's Wife scheduled in early spring, and replace it with High Spirits, the musical version of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, opening March 21 and running through April 5, 2009.

PBS filmed the San Francisco Symphony's opening night gala on September 24, 2008. The concert took place at Carnegie Hall as part of their celebration of their 118th season in a tribte to Leonard Bernstein. The performance featured Christine Ebersole as vocalist. The evening was musically directed and performed by Michael Tilson Thomas.

For 17 nights of pop, folk, cabaret, R&B, country, rock, show tunes, bluegrass and multimedia, the series will explore the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic contemporary songwriting. The 2009 season - January 14 through March 6 - will bring to the stage some of today's most gifted interpreters of song, including top vocalist Kurt Elling and country's winning Patty Loveless. It will feature the rare opportunity to hear Paulo Szot, star of Broadway's South Pacific, and film and stage star Alan Cumming, in intimate concert settings.

Bantering with her pianist, Billy Stritch, about Broadway, politics and other life experiences, Christine charmed her audience with her stunning voice.
