Direct from Broadway's American Idiot, American Idol's Justin Guarini and MTV's Paul Iacono (star of the hit series 'The Hard Times of RJ Berger') will star in Jonathan Larson's landmark rock musical RENT at Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, NJ, from May 28 through June 19. Opening Night is scheduled for Saturday, May 28 at 8:00pm. Celebrating its 62nd Season of Broadway by the Beach, Surflight Theatre, a Jersey Shore entertainment destination for over 60 years, is now under the leadership of Producer and Surflight alum Roy Miller.

Bay Area Cabaret's season finale will star one of Broadway's greatest vocal talents, Lillias White. Returning this spring from Nigeria, where she will reprise her Tony-nominated role in FELA!, White is the winner of Broadway's 'Triple Crown' (a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award) for her role in Cy Coleman's The Life.

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that the famous hate-fest between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis is the inspiration of a new play that could hit the New York scene big as early as 2012. BETTE AND JOAN, as the play is called, receieved a private reading last week directed by Doug Hughes and starred Christine Ebersole (Bette Davis) and Jan Maxwell (Joan Crawford).

On Monday, May 2, 2011 The New York Pops' marks its 28th birthday with Celebrate Hope, a grand gala evening celebrating the legacy of late actor and comedian Bob Hope and honoring decades of support by Interpublic Group. Broadway's Will Chase will be tonight's guest star on the season finale of the USA network's Royal Pains. Chase will play MS patient Benjamin Richards, a Hamptonite hosting his annual MS Fundraiser, and looks to hire someone to launch his foundation's new philanthropic effort- a fleet of mobile medical clinics in developing nations. When Benjamin experiences symptoms associated with MS flare-ups, HankMed treats him and discovers something altogether different is effecting his health.

The New York Times reports today that following his stint in DRIVING MISS DAISY, James Earl Jones will be hanging around Broadway a bit longer, assuming the role of Arthur Hockstader in the revival of Gore Vidal's 'The Best Man.' The production is scheduled to open in the spring of 2012. Orphan's Home Cycle director Michael Wilson will helm the revival. The plot centers around chief executive Hockstader trying to decide which presidental nominees to support: William Russell and Joe Cantwell.
