CHAPLIN, a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin played by Rob McClure, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, opened on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012. Warren Carlyle (Finian's Rainbow; Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway) directs and choreographs the production. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the producers of Broadway's CHAPLIN have extended the previously announced "buy one get one free" ticket offer for all performances through Thursday, November 8. The offer applies to tickets at all price levels and is available in person at the Barrymore Theatre box office only.

The critically acclaimed first Off-Broadway revival of the of Closer Than Ever, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, will end its extended run with its 150th performance on Sunday evening, November 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue) where performances began June 5, 2012.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the producers of Broadway's CHAPLIN have announced a special half-price ticket offer for select orchestra and front-mezzanine seats for performances this Saturday at 2:00PM and 8:00PM and Sunday at 2:00PM. This offer is available to anyone who purchases tickets for these performances at the Barrymore Theatre box office only. The previously announced "buy one get one free" offer for tickets at all price levels for performances tonight and tomorrow night (Friday) still stands.

The Friday, November 9th performance of Broadway's CHAPLIN at the Barrymore Theatre, 243 West 47th Street, will benefit the NYC Firefighters' charity, Lil' Bravest Inc., which raises money for children with diseases.

Back in the 1970s and '80s, when the National Hockey League was at its pugilistic pinnacle, the joke was, 'I went to the fights last night and a hockey game broke out.' I thought of a variation on that theme last Saturday night (October 13) during a show at Town Hall that was part of the venue's eighth annual Cabaret Festival: 'I went to a Jekyll & Hyde musical convention tonight and a Linda Eder concert broke out.' Eder's audience showed up having imbibed the J & H Kool Aid, a toxic brew that makes one believe that some of the most manipulative, derivative and over-the-top musical theater songs ever written are Rodgers and Hammerstein classics incarnate. As most of the audience was transforming into grotesquely passionate full Jekkie mode, the show itself (co-starring former J & H stars Christiane Noll and Robert Cuccioli) manifested a spilt personality-part Eder concert, part J & H reunion show.

It's one of the most anticipated events of the year in New York City - The Rink at Rockefeller Center opens for the 2012-2013 winter season on Tuesday, October 16. Set against the Art Deco backdrop of Rockefeller Center, the First Skate of the Year will feature Broadway's CHAPLIN star Rob McClure performing antics with Chef Yuhi Fujinaga of The Sea Grill and Chef Antonio Prontelli of Rock Center Cafe at 10:00am.
