Acclaimed HERSHEY FELDER AS IRVING BERLIN Comes to Berkeley Rep

The story and music of America's Composer come to life on stage when Berkeley Repertory Theatre stages a special presentation of Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin, a play-with-music written and performed by award-winning actor and musician Hershey Felder (George Gershwin Alone, Hershey Felder as Leonard Bernstein in Maestro). The Den Theatre To Open The Bookspan Theatre in September 2016

The Den Theatre is pleased to announce the expansion into its newest space, The Bookspan Theatre, set to open in fall 2016. Named for respected arts educator, performance coach, director and performer Janet Bookspan, the 99-seat, fully adaptable theatre will open at 1335 N. Milwaukee Ave., adjacent to The Den's six other theatres and spaces. Haven Theatre Company will be the head resident company of the The Bookspan, set to inaugurate the space with the Chicago premiere of How We Got On by Idris Goodwin, directed by Jess McLeod from September 29 - November 12, 2016. Other companies expected to produce in the space during the 2016-17 season include Griffin Theatre and Route 66 Theatre Company.

Stage Left Theatre announces Drekfest 2016, which performs on Tuesday, August 16th at 7:30pm at CSz Theatre, 929 W Belmont. Stage Left is proud to again partner with CSz Chicago for Drekfest 2016. HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD has its official opening this week, with a special gala performance on Saturday 30 July. The eighth story in the Harry Potter series, and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage, is one play presented in two parts. Both parts are intended to be seen in order on the same day (matinee and evening) or on two consecutive evenings.

Possum Point Players Juniors to Present CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, Casting Announced!

The junior affiliate of the Possum Point Players and the director of its summer show, Devon Lynch of Georgetown have released the cast for the organization's upcoming performances of the musical Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.  Scheduled for July 21, 22 and 23 at 7 PM and July 24 at 2 PM. at a general admission ticket price of $12.00, tickets can be purchased on line at www.possumpointplayers.org ,the Possum Point Players ticket line at (302) 856-4560 or purchased at the door provided the show is not sold out.  PPP recommends ticket purchasers get their tickets ahead of time.

Fox Theatricals Brings Home Tony Award as a Producer of THE HUMANS

St. Louis' own Fox Theatricals received a 2016 Tony® Award as a producer of THE HUMANS, a new Broadway play by Stephan Karam.  THE HUMANS received a total of four 2016 Tony nominations:  Best Play,  Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play (Reed Birney), Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play (Jayne Houdyshell) and Best Scenic Design of a Play (David Zinn).  The show received additional nominations for Best Lighting Design of a Play (Justin Townsend) and Best Direction of a Play (Joe Mantello).

Phoenix Theatre to Host Conversation with Broadway Producer Bradley Reynolds

Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis will be hosting a fascinating community conversation featuring Bradley Reynolds, Producer of the Broadway smash Hand to God, and Bryan Fonseca, Producing Director of the Phoenix Theatre.  This unique event will reveal the methods and effort required to produce a hit Broadway show, the process of recapturing that success regionally, and the remarkable journey from one venue to the other. This community conversation will take place directly following the performance of Hand to God on Sunday, June 26, 2016, on the Livia and Steve Russell Stage. The community conversation is free of charge.

Theo Ubique Announces 2016-17 Season

Theo Ubique's upcoming season, announced today by Artistic Director Fred Anzevino (left), will include four productions of critically acclaimed works that are likely to be new to most Chicago audiences. The season will begin on September 23rd with the Chicago premiere of a 2015 Drama Desk nominee for Outstanding Musical - the off-Broadway hit Fly by Night, to be directed by Anzevino with music direction by Jeremy Ramey (below left). It will be followed in December by the Chicago premiere of Honky Tonk Angels - a book musical by Always... Patsy Cline writer Ted Swindley incorporating some of country music's greatest hits into a story of three women who form a country music singing trio.

Promethean Theatre Ensemble Sets 2016-17 Season

Promethean Ensemble Theatre will enter its second decade with three plays that view characters and stories of the past through the eyes of modern playwrights. Leading off the season in December will be Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Moises Kaufman's 1997 biographical play about playwright Oscar Wilde's 1895 trials and ultimate conviction for the crime of homosexuality. Promethean Theatre Ensemble Artistic Director Brian Pastor will direct.
