Sultry, sweet sounds of saxophone superstar Kenny G mellifluously meld with the full orchestra, when Pacific Symphony delivers a jazz-infused summer evening of music, led by guest conductor Albert-George Schram. In a recording career that spans three decades and 23 albums, the Grammy Award-winning Kenny G has sold more than 75 million records worldwide (45 million in the U.S. alone) and enjoyed more than a dozen climbs to the top of Billboard's contemporary jazz chart. By grafting elements of R&B, pop and Latin to his smooth jazz foundation, Kenny G has solidified his reputation as the premier artist in contemporary jazz. Having made his debut with Pacific Symphony in February 2013 for a romantic Valentine's Day weekend celebration, Kenny G returns to Orange County tonight, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m., to perform at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine as part of Mercedes-Benz presents Summer Festival 2014.

When composer/arranger/pianist Billy Childs was introduced to the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Laura Nyro at the age of 11, he was left with a powerful and lasting impression of Nyro's unique blend of Broadway-inspired melodies, jazz improvisations and socially conscious lyrics. Childs returned to that early experience for his latest project, creating and orchestrating his newest album, Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro. Orange County jazz fans will have the opportunity to hear Childs' loving homage to the late great Nyro at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m. in the Rene?e and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Blue Note Jazz Club, one of the world's most iconic jazz and blues venues based in Greenwich Village, has announced world renowned trumpeter Chris Botti's milestone 10th Annual Holiday Residency. The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) and New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) present Bell & Lacombe, a one-performance-only program tonight, May 9, at 8 pm in NJPAC's Prudential Hall. The Grammy Award-winning violinist performs Sibelius' Violin Concerto and Ravel's Tzigane on a program that includes Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture and Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1. NJSO Music Director Jacques Lacombe conducts.
