Merrimack Repertory Theatre Adds New Members to Patriot Program

As the inaugural season of Merrimack Repertory Theatre's Patriot Program approaches its end, artistic director Sean Daniels has announced the addition of 14 new theatre artists to the company's network of collaborators. The new class of Patriots includes a mix of local and national artists who can now count MRT as one of their theatrical homes.

Pianist Lang Lang to Headline McCarter's Annual Gala Benefit Concert, 5/7

On Saturday, May 7th, McCarter Theatre Center will host its annual Gala Benefit, which supports McCarter's many ongoing artistic and educational missions here in Princeton and around the region. This year's gala is fashioned on the theme of Truman Capote's 1960s 'Black and White Ball,' with offerings including a silent auction; a post-concert party complete with music and dancing; as well as other surprises for attendees.

EVITA Opens Tonight at Spotlighters

EVITA, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice and directed by Fuzz Roark with musical direction by Michael Tan opens at Spotlighters Theatre tonight, April 15. It will continue through May 15, 2016.

Matrix Theatre to Present MOTHERHOOD OUT LOUD!

Last year's staged reading of Motherhood Out Loud was so popular that Matrix Theatre Company has brought it back for four performances over Mother's Day weekend. Performances for this limited engagement run are May 6 - 8, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm at Matrix Theatre located at 2730 Bagley in the heart of southwest Detroit.

Wolfbane Productions to Present EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL!

Wolfbane Productions, the professional, nonprofit theatre company based out of Appomattox, VA, in collaboration with the Williams Collision Center, is thrilled to announce the return of Evil Dead: the Musical! Back by popular demand, this campy parody will be performed outside at the Wolf Performing Arts Center (the Wolf PAC) for three nights only, June 16, 17, and 18 at 8PM! BWW Review: A Love Letter to Theatre's Golden Age, ACT ONE Triumphs at the Good Theater

Portland's Good Theater is closing, what has been a highly adventurous and challenging fourteenth season, with a triumphant production of Act One, James Lapine's play based on the autobiography of Moss Hart. This nostalgic, subtly comic, and warmly touching work tells the story of a young Hart, learning to navigate the complex currents of writing a Broadway show in the 1930s. Told by two narrators, Lapine's play brings to life not only the Hart-George S. Kaufmann partnership, but a host of other colorful historical characters who helped to shape this golden age of the stage.

And in setting up the play this way, Hnath has crafted an intriguing, multilayered play that simultaneously is and is not about the Hillary Clinton recognizable to 2016 audiences. With direction by Victory Gardens Artistic Director Chay Yew, this play invites audiences to consider themes both intimate and expansive.

The New 42nd Street hosts its annual Gala, this year celebrating 25 years, tonight, April 11 at The New Victory Theater. The evening will honor Douglas Durst, Bruce C. Ratner, Daniel R. Tishman, and Mortimer B. Zuckerman with the Marian Heiskell Award and President of The New 42nd Street, Cora Cahan, with the New Victory Arts Award. Jane and Michael Eisner will serve as Gala honorary chairs.

THE WAY OF THE MYSTERIAL WOMAN is Released

Good Theater the professional theater company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland will close its 14th season with the regional theater premiere of ACT ONE by James Lapine from the autobiography by Moss Hart.
