FSLC to Launch Daily Radio Show from Sundance Film Festival

The Film Society of Lincoln Center will kick off a daily radio program tomorrow from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival called Film Society's Daily Buzz with Eugene Hernandez. The daily radio show, recorded live each morning at the Village at the Lift on Main St. in Park City is hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Eugene Hernandez, a co-founder of Indiewire who is celebrating his 20th anniversary of attending the festival.

Dedicated to the discovery of new works by emerging and dynamic filmmaking talent, the 2013 edition marks the film festival's 42nd year.

Pianist Rudolf Buchbinder Performs With the New York Philharmonic, 2/14-16

The "Viennese oracle" (The Philadelphia Inquirer) pianist Rudolf Buchbinder will be the featured soloist with the New York Philharmonic led by Music Director Alan Gilbert in three concerts from February 14-16, 2013 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. Buchbinder will perform Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 83; the concerts will also include Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, Pathetique. Buchbinder's next performances in the U.S. are on March 8-10, 2013, as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra led by Christoph von Dohnanyi, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466.

The concert hall is transformed into the movie theater when the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), lead by Music Director Marin Alsop, with soprano Irina Tchistjakova and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society perform Sergei Prokofiev's music score from Sergei Eisenstein's classic 1938 motion picture Alexander Nevsky. The BSO and guests will perform this majestic score live while the film is projected behind them tonight, January 11, 2013 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore.

St. Ann's Warehouse presents the American Premiere of Opus No. 7, a visually explosive, non-narrative spectacle that exemplifies Krymov's "theater of painters" and provides what Feldman calls "a perfect introduction to contemporary Russian theater." Opus No. 7 will run for just eight performances at the new St. Ann's Warehouse (29 Jay Street) tonight, January 9-19, 2013.

The new musical CHAPLIN will be produced in São Paulo, Brazil at the Teatro Procópio Ferreira in April 2014 by Chaim XYZ Produções. The current Broadway production will play its final performance at the Barrymore Theatre on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

CHAPLIN, a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin played by Rob McClure, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, opened on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012. Warren Carlyle (Finian's Rainbow; Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway) directs and choreographs the production. The celebrated actor had a plethora of interesting and scholarly items to discuss about SHOW BOAT, and the character of Cap'n Andy. We also had a good time discussing his career as an actor, director, choreographer, and teacher.
