The Newport Opera House Association ('NOHA') is pleased to announce the cast for the hilarious comedy THE FOREIGNER, written by Larry Shue and directed by Christopher Rex Jacobs.

The Monmouth Community Players are proud to announce their cast for the opening show of the 2018-2019 season, Larry Shue's 'The Foreigner'. This show is being directed by Bill McLean of Monmouth, with Ginger Smith of Winthrop as Assistant Director and Josie French of Lewiston as Producer. The crew is rounded out by: Danny Gay of Auburn on set design, construction and decor; Ginger Smith as decor assistant; Maya Veilleux of Augusta on sound; and Alexa Gallant of Augusta on lights.

Trans Voices Cabaret has announced the cast and creative team for their inaugural cabaret in Chicago. A successful cabaret in NYC, Trans Voices Cabaret has inspired this Chicago branch to form, in order to help create the home that that trans/GNC musical theatre artists don't have in the theatre community, and in turn show industry professionals and the cishet theatre community the power and the marketability of hiring a trans actor in a role that fits their true gender. The Boston Gay Men's Chorus (BGMC) is pleased to announce that it will sing at the 86th Annual Meeting of the US Conference of Mayors in Boston, which takes place June 8-11. The Chorus will perform at a June 10 gathering at 8:30pm in the Boston Public Library's McKim Exhibits Hall. BGMC was invited to perform by Mayor Martin J. Walsh, who is hosting the 86th annual conference and has also issued a proclamation declaring June 11-25 to be "Boston Gay Men's Chorus Week" in the City of Boston. The performance coincides with the end of Boston Pride Week, the city's annual celebration of the LGBT community.

The board of MassDevelopment, the Mass Cultural Council's partner in the administration of the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF), has awarded Chester Theatre Company (CTC) one of 63 capital grants given statewide by the CFF, a state program that fosters the growth of the creative economy by supporting building projects in the nonprofit arts, humanities, and sciences. In a press release issued by the Mass Cultural Council, MassDevelopment President and CEO Lauren Liss stated, 'The Cultural Facilities Fund supports crucial capital projects at institutions that serve as the backbone of the Massachusetts creative economy.'

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is proud to announce that it has received two major grants this month, totaling $55,000. The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded MRT an Art Works grant of $20,000 for the development of a new play, Little Women, Retold. And the board of MassDevelopment, the Mass Cultural Council's partner in the administration of the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF), has approved a Capital grant to MRT in the amount of $35,000 for sound and lighting upgrades.

'The Foreigner' is hilarious comedy set in a fishing lodge that is 'way back' deep in them Georgia woods. If you're not familiar with southern terminology, 'way back' is a further distance than 'there yonder.' Misdirection leads a handful of colorful characters on a three day weekend with nothing being the same afterwards.
