The Kitchen's DANCE AND PROCESS Series Continues This Week

The Kitchen presents the next installment of the institution's longest ongoing series, Danceand Process. The program of new works features artists Karen Bernard, Benjamin Van Buren, Niall Jones, and Ander Mikalson. These performances are the culmination of a ten-week group process of sharing work and feedback. Dance and Process is facilitated by Moriah Evans, Yve Laris Cohen, and Sarah Michelson.

Centenary Stage Company to Host Annual Dance Fest at Lackland Center

?   Centenary Stage Company celebrates the artistry of dance in the Lackland Center with the ever - popular annual Dance Fest.  This year's Dance Fest will feature Moe-tion Dance Theater on Thursday, March 31 at 7:30pm, a double feature with 10 Hairy Legs on Saturday, April 2 at2pm and 8pm and, finally, Nimbus Dance Works on Sunday, April 3 at 5pm.  All performances will be held in the Sitnik Theatre of Centenary Stage Company's Lackland Center.

Alwin Nikolais' Classics Take the Stage at The Joyce Theater Tonight

Welcome to 2016 via 1950 at The Joyce Theater, February 9-14, when a series of the late choreographer's groundbreaking works-'Tensile Involvement,' 'Gallery,' 'Mechanical Organ III,' and 'Crucible' command the stage courtesy of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, the repository of 'Nik's' greatest hits. Alberto del Saz, director of the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance, selected, staged and directed the season repertory.

Jose Limon Dance Foundation Welcomes New Artistic Director

The Jose Limon Dance Foundation announces the appointment of Colin Connor as new Artistic Director.  A renowned contemporary choreographer and dance educator, Connor will succeed the legendary Carla Maxwell on July 1, 2016 to become only the fifth Artistic Director in the Company's 70 year history and the first man to lead the Company since Limon himself.

'SONGS OF THE HARLEM RIVER' Set for Dream Up Festival

'Songs of the Harlem River: Forgotten one acts from the Harlem Renaissance' is a collection of one-acts written between 1920-1930 including works by Marita Bonner, Rafe M. Coleman, Georgia Douglas Johnson, Willis Richardson and Eulalie Spence as well as the poems of Sterling A. Brown, Langston Hughes and others. The evening is directed and choreographed by Shela Xoregos and will have its world premiere August 30 to September 6 in Theater for the New City's 2015 Dream Up Festival.

Many of the pieces, including one world premiere from Harrison, focus on issues relevant to the dancers and today's college students.

The New York Times said of the piece: 'You realize what you're watching isn't so much an artist inventing himself as inevitably discovering the true self within.' The performance takes place tonight, January 24, 2014 at Goodhart Hall, Bryn Mawr College.
