Rehearsals begin yesterday, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26. Producer Jo Schuman Silver announced today that Val Diamond, longtime star of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, has left the show after over 30 years of performing in the hit musical revue. Diamond is looking forward to other opportunities in the performing arts in the Bay Area and beyond.

The Almeida Theatre Company, who have been invited to take part in the Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival at the Dramaten (Royal Dramatic Theatre of Sweden) in Stockholm, will perform a rehearsed reading, script in hand, of Bergman's Through A Glass Darkly, adapted for the stage by Andrew Upton, under the Direction of Michael Attenborough.

Prince Charles Creates A New Award For Arts Philanthropy

Prince Charles has created a new award for England's most generous arts benefactors.
The awards were given out during a ceremony organized by Arts and Business. The first seven recipients of the Prince of Wales Medal for Arts Philanthropy were given earlier this week.
