Negro Ensemble to Revive A SOLDIER'S PLAY as Part of 50th Season

For its 50th season, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) has been presenting a retrospective of some of the troupe's signature works. The culminating event of this landmark season will be NEC's most famous and successful production, 'A Soldier's Play' by Charles Fuller, which NEC first presented in 1981 at Theatre Four.

Negro Ensemble to Mount THE COST as 2017 Alumni Showcase at La MaMa

The martini-swigging, tuxedo clad, rock and roll original is back!  The Ridgefield Playhouse and Pepsi Rock Series bring Buster Poindexter to the stage on Today, January 19at 8 pm for an uproarious and dazzling night of music!  Buster Poindexter (nee David Johansen) first attracted attention as a glam rock pioneer (in the New York Dolls, with whom he still tours) and then as an early MTV idol with his chart-topping dance hit "Hot Hot Hot".  Today, the words 'blues' and 'shouting' are, alas, inextricably linked, but what about the tradition of mellow blues crooners that extended through Charles Brown, Nat King Cole and, in their more romantic moments, Joe Williams and Ray Charles.

Blues Foundation Announces 2016 Blues Hall of Fame Inductees

On May 4, 2016 five legendary blues performers, two individuals who were instrumental in the creation of blues music, five single blues recordings, one blues album and an important piece of blues literature will be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

Goodman Theatre Announces March-April 2015 Lineup for Citywide August Wilson Celebration

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.
