Miriam Hoffman Will Read Selections From Her New Book 'A Breed Apart,' at Books & Books in Coral Gables

MIRIAM HOFFMAN, author, scholar, playwright & survivor will be reading selections from her new book A Breed Apart: Reflections of a Young Refugee, today, January 23, 2018, at 8pm at the Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave Coral Gables, Florida. She will be joined by her son, Avi Hoffman, the award-winning actor & performer, with special musical guest, Randi Fishenfeld. The evening will include a multi-media presentation, discussion, Q&A & book signing. The event, which is co-sponsored by the University of Miami/Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies, will be FREE & open to the public.

Multi-Grammy-winning rock band Foo Fighters delivers an electrifying, historic performance at the famed Odeon of Herodes Atticus from the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, in the latest installment of Landmarks Live in Concert for THIRTEEN's Foo Fighters LANDMARKS Live in Concert: A Great Performances Special.

Music Academy's 70th Anniversary Season Announced

 The Music Academy of the West launches its 70th anniversary season on June 12. To celebrate this major milestone anniversary, the Festival will launch three important new initiatives - the Commissions and Premieres program, the Enterprise Awards program for alumni, and the Steinway Competition and tour - besides presenting the inaugural Evolution/Revolution Conference and the largest classical music event in the history of Santa Barbara, California, for which Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the final performance of his eight-year tenure with the orchestra. This year's four Mosher Guest Artists, Matthew Aucoin, David Daniels, Renee Fleming, and Stephen Hough, will take part in major Academy performances and share their expertise through masterclasses. Taking place from June 12 through August 5, 2017, the 70th Season Festival will comprise more than 200 masterclasses, recitals, performances, and events in Santa Barbara, many of which are free to the public. Festival events will feature the Summer School's 137 fellows, drawn from 22 states and eight countries, as well as nearly 70 faculty and guest artists.

5th ANNUAL GUITAR MASH and Brunch at CITY WINERY on 12/11

The 5th Annual Guitar Mash will be held at New York's City Winery on Sunday, December 11th from noon to 3:30 pm.The event, which includes a brunch, celebrates the power of communal music-making while supporting outreach to teen musicians in communities from across New York's five boroughs.

Alicia Keys Landmarks Live in Concert kicks off a new arts strand within the Great Performances series, beginning Friday, January 20 at 9 p.m. on PBS. (Check local listings.)
