The Primary Stages School of Theater (PSST) has announcedthe addition of its popular Master Class Series that was created to provide students the chance togain rare insight and experience from some of the finest working professionals in thetheater. Special guests for the spring series include, Judith Ivey, Judith Light and Craig Lucas.Master Classes are open to the public with a suggested $5 donation.

Philadelphia QFest closed its 15th year with the much-praised premiere of The Big Gay Musical and a packed closing night event on the 33rd floor of the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia. Both the screening and the party served as the grand finale for twelve days full of critically acclaimed movies, celebrity appearances, awards ceremonies, outdoors screenings, and festive parties.

QFest is tickled pink to announce the smash hit films scheduled for Opening and Closing Nights, July 9 and 20, at the Prince Music Theater. QFest alum (director of last year's Serene Hunter) Jason Bushman's feature debut, Hollywood je t'aime, will kick off this year's cinematic extravaganza, and the world premiere of Casper Andreas and Fred M. Caruso's The Big Gay Musical is set to be the grand finale. Sandwiched in between, the 12 day festival will show 140 of the best LGBTQ films of the year.

As playwright Matthew Lombardo continues to develop the upcoming Arena Stage production of Looped starring four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Tallulah Bankhead, a casting change has taken place. Jay Goede, known for his work on Broadway in Angels in America, A Year with Frog and Toad and Sex and Longing, will now play opposite Harper in the pre-Broadway staging, directed by Rob Ruggiero at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre May 29 through June 28, 2009. Allen joins previously announced four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda in The Mary Tyler Moore Show) who stars as Tallulah Bankhead in this uproarious new comedy. Allen originally created the role of Danny Miller for the world premiere production of Looped at Pasadena Playhouse, and he is presently performing the role with Harper at the Cuillo Center in West Palm Beach Florida. Looped will play May 29-June 28, 2009 at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre.

Due to actor illness, TheaterWorks is canceling performances of The Little Dog Laughed through February 17. The hit comedy will resume its run on Tuesday, February 19 when Jonathan Orsini will step into the role of Alex previously performed by Jeremy Jordan, who underwent an appendectomy this week. To accommodate displaced ticket-holders, the theater is adding a full week of additional performances to the show's schedule.
