WAITING FOR GODOT Extends Thru 7/12

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) has announced a one-week extension of Waiting for Godot through Sunday, July 12th, 2009.

Playwrights Horizon's OUR HOUSE Rehearsals Now Underway, Previews Begin 5/15

Rehearsals are now underway at Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) for the New York premiere of OUR HOUSE, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck (The Butterfly Collection and Bad Dates at Playwrights Horizons, Broadway's Mauritius, co-author of Omnium Gatherum). A scathing new comedy that shakes up Reality TV, OUR HOUSE is the final production of the theater company's 2008/2009 Season.

THE LAST CIGARETTE Moves To The West End 4/21-8/1

Richard Eyre's production of The Last Cigarette, adapted by Hugh Whitemore and Simon Gray from Gray's critically acclaimed The Smoking Diaries, is to transfer to the West End having previously opened the 2009 Season at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Starring Felicity Kendal, Nicholas le Prevost and Jasper Britton, who all perform as Simon Gray, The Last Cigarette will run at Trafalgar Studios from 21 April - 1 August, with opening night 28 April 2009. Designs are by Rob Howell with lighting and projection by John Driscoll and music by George Fenton.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) and gala co-chairs Carla Crane and Chandra Geiger Gordon are proud to announce A.C.T.'s 2008-09 season gala, Illuminate the Night, featuring an exclusive performance by Judy Kaye, Tony Award-winning star of A.C.T.'s Sweeney Todd and Souvenir. The entertainment for this wonderful evening also includes performances by A.C.T.'s own Master of Fine Arts Program and Young Conservatory students, created and directed by John Carrafa, the Tony Award-nominated choreographer of Urinetown, the Musical on Broadway and at A.C.T.

Le Cabaret Noir by 4 Horsemen/PURE Cirkus is the first mainstage companion piece of 2009, bringing its spectacular variety-burlesque performance art to the Bullitt Cabaret following Friday and Saturday night performances of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, April 17 - May 9, 2009.

Roundabout's WAITING FOR GODOT to Start Previews 1 Week Early on April 3

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents (in order of speaking) Nathan Lane (Estragon), Bill Irwin (Vladimir), John Goodman (Pozzo), David Strathairn (Lucky) and in a new Broadway production of Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett and directed by Tony? award winner Anthony Page. Waiting for Godot will now begin previews one week earlier on Friday, April 3rd, 2009 and open officially on Thursday, April 30th, 2009 at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th Street). This will be a limited engagement. The cast will also include Matthew Schechter (Boy). The design team includes Santo Loquasto (Sets), Jane Greenwood (Costumes) and Peter Kaczorowski (Lights).

A cornerstone of twentieth century theatre, Waiting for Godot was Samuel Beckett's first professionally produced play. It premiered in Paris in 1953 and premiered on Broadway in 1956 at the John Golden Theatre. Beckett's language pioneered an expressionistic minimalism that captured the existentialism of post-World War II Europe.

NCTC's First Annual Love Fest To Feature Tiny Hat Orchestra

Following up on its critically acclaimed inaugural production of The Adding Machine, Seattle's newest professional theatre company will present something completely different for Valentine's Day. NCTC's first annual Love Fest is a concert featuring one of Seattle's most popular, long-lost bands of the early ?90s, the ska and big band tinged Tiny Hat Orchestra. During the height of the grunge era, Tiny Hat, with its five-piece horn section and infectious and sophisticated original dance music, was an iconoclastic mainstay of the Seattle scene, playing venues like the original grand openings of both the Crocodile Caf? and Moe's (now Neumos), as well as opening nights for SIFF and SAM.

ACT Presents THE INNER I: HOW ARTISTS SEE THEMSELVES

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2008-09 season Koret Visiting Artist Series with 'The Inner 'I': How Artists See Themselves,' a conversation with Lotfi Mansouri, celebrated opera director and the general director emeritus of the San Francisco Opera; Judy Kaye, the Tony Award-winning star of A.C.T.'s Souvenir; and the internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade. Moderated by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff, the conversation will focus on the different ways artists view themselves and how these self-images affect their work. 'The Inner 'I' is presented in conjunction with A.C.T.'s production of Stephen Temperley's Souvenir, which tells the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite and tone-deaf diva who thought she was a great soprano. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Glover Joins 'GODOT', Steps in for Exiting Strathairn

John Glover will portray 'Lucky' in Roundabout Theatre Company's new Broadway production of Waiting for Godot, directed by Anthony Page and starring (in order of speaking) Nathan Lane (Estragon), Bill Irwin (Vladimir) and John Goodman (Pozzo). David Strathairn was previously announced to play 'Lucky.' He had to regretfully leave the production prior to rehearsals beginning.

The Kennedy Center Presents The World Premiere Of UNLEASHED

The Kennedy Center presents the world premiere of Unleashed! The Secret Lives of White House Pets written by Allyson Currin and directed by Nick Olcott. Co-produced and co-commissioned with the White House Historical Association, the play appears in the Family Theater January 30 - February 22, 2009 and is recommended for audiences aged seven and up.
