Fox PAC Presents RING OF FIRE 2/18

Mc Coy Rigby Entertainment & Fox Operator Bill Malone of FX Arts have announced the third in its brand new 'Broadway Series' of shows, with the songs of one of the most iconic figures in the history of music, RING OF FIRE: THE MUSIC OF JOHNNY CASH, with musical direction by Jeff Lisenby, choreography by Jane Lanier and directed by and starring from the original New York production, Jason Edwards.

Hennepin Theatre Trust Announces Talk-It Hennepin, Running March Through June

Today, Hennepin Theatre Trust announced the launch of Talk-It Hennepin, a free, four-part series of public conversations and workshops bringing together today's foremost thinkers and professionals in city planning and urban design with Hennepin Avenue stakeholders. Running from March 8 into June 2012, the Talk-It series is part of the broader Plan-It Hennepin, a year-long initiative led by partners Hennepin Theatre Trust, Walker Art Center, Artspace and the City of Minneapolis. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the plan will re-imagine a stretch of this storied avenue as a revitalized cultural corridor from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to the Mississippi River.

The Seattle theater scene has presented us with some amazing shows this last season and I felt it necessary to recognize some of the incredible talent and shows I was fortunate enough to see. The 64th Annual Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to Begin July 5th

The 64th annual Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, under the leadership of General Manager Bernard Foccroulle, will open on July 5 and run until July 27, 2012, featuring a diverse menu of seven opera and musical theater productions, seven orchestral concerts, five solo recitals, seven intimate chamber music performances, two world music programs, and more than thirty events from the 15th annual European Academy of Music. The Festival's wide-ranging events unfold in nine extraordinary venues, many of them open-air, in and around the picturesque ancient Provencal city: castles, a cathedral, a basilica, a palace courtyard, a historical site dating back to the 11th century BC, and an 18th century theatre transformed from a «jeu de paume» court where Louis XIV played in 1660.

Seattle Theater Writers Announce 2011 Winners of Gypsy Rose Lee Awards

Seattle Theater Writers, a group of 11 local theater writers and reviewers, has announced the 2011 winners of the first annual Gypsy Rose Lee Awards, a new set of theater awards devoted to recognizing excellence across the Equity and non-Equity spectrum. 2011 marks the 100th year of Ms. Lee's birth in Seattle.

14/48 Returns to ACT Theatre

The January 6-14, 2012 installment of 14/48 marks the 15th year for this semi-annual theatre festival that was supposed to just be a one-time only fundraiser. Founded in November of 1997, 14/48: The World's Quickest Theater Festival now happens twice a year in Seattle to sell-out crowds.

STAGE TUBE: On This Day 1/3- THE CRADLE WILL ROCK

Today in 1938, The Cradle Will Rock opened at the Windsor Theatre. Originally a part of the Federal Theatre Project, it was directed by Orson Welles, and produced by John Houseman. The show was recorded and released on seven 78-rpm discs in 1938, making it the first cast album recording. Following the impromptu opening and a brief run at the Venice Theatre (later renamed the New Century Theatre) in July 1937, the production reopened on January 3, 1938, at the Windsor Theatre under the auspices of the new Mercury Theatre Company. It played a total of 108 performances.

All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914, the moving production which has become a new holiday classic and an annual tradition for theatregoers, will return for six performances only, Thursday through Sunday, December 15-18, 2011 at the Pantages Theatre, 710 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis.
