Camille A. Brown & Dancers, recognized for its introspective approach to cultural themes through visceral movement and socio-political dialogues, announces its 2015-2016 Season tour. Commencing with the world premiere of Bessie and Doris Duke award-winning choreographer Camille A. Brown's BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play at New York's Joyce Theater, the company will also tour to 10 venues and cities across the nation, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami. Performances will feature original live music by composers Scott Patterson (piano) and Tracy Wormworth (electric bass), and a moderated dialogue with audiences around the cultural and universal themes presented by the Company's repertory. Mark Anthony Neal and dream hampton are among the moderators for the Joyce Theater. The season will also include various residencies, Black Girl Spectrum workshops and panel discussions.

(WASHINGTON)—Washington National Opera (WNO), led by Artistic Director Francesca Zambello, today announced its 60th anniversary season, one that highlights classic, contemporary, and American works. The 2015-2016 season includes a new-to-Washington staging of Bizet's Carmen, the world premiere of a newly revised version of Appomattox by composer Philip Glass and librettist Christopher Hampton, a revival of WNO's charming holiday production of Hansel and Gretel, the company premiere of Kurt Weill's Lost in the Stars in a gripping production from Cape Town Opera, and WNO's first complete staging of Wagner's extraordinary four-part Ring Cycle, with a world-class cast under the direction of Francesca Zambello and featuring the WNO Orchestra conducted by WNO Music Director Philippe Auguin. Highlights from the 2015-2016 season will be performed by the WNO Orchestra and special guests at a free preview concert on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 6 p.m. as part of the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.

With a 300-strong troop of musicians, soloists and chorus starting the tour in Cardiff with Prokofiev's Betrothal in a Monastery, Valery Gergiev proceeds to London to present Russia's national epic Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov followed by the UK premiere of The Lefthander, both in concert versions at the Barbican.

The award, the only industry award of its kind, honors the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical. Amid an electrifying evening of dance by the greatest talents of Broadway and film, the 2010 Fred & Adele Astaire Award winners were announced at the 28th annual awards ceremony at the Gerald W. Lynch at John Jay College. The Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award named for the late esteemed critic and co-founder of the Awards was presented to the legendary director and choreographer Kenny Ortega by Grammy winner Roberta Flack. Host for the evening was Ben Vereen.
