Broadway in Austin at Texas Performing Arts has announced an amazing 2013-2014 Season with four Austin premieres and two all-time favorites.

Now, Disney Theatrical Productions has confirmed that Aladdin, a new musical based on the Academy Award winning animated film, will play its pre-Broadway engagement at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre(formerly the Canon) November 13, 2013 to January 12, 2014 and will open at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre in 2014. The show will feature music by Alan Menken; lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin with a book by Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph.

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has broken its own house record in Seattle. The show grossed $2,107,505.00 for the week ending Sunday, January 20 at the Paramount Theatre. THE BOOK OF MORMON first broke the record the week of January 13, previously set by WICKED in 2009.

As an actor, there is nothing like playing a leading role in a hit Broadway musical. Add to that having the chance to perform the role in front of a hometown audience, filled with family and friends, and you have the story of Stacey Todd Holt, who will play Leo Bloom, the budding theatrical producer in Mel Brooks' hit musical, The Producers when it plays the Fabulous Fox Theatre January 25 - 31, produced by Theater of the Stars. I had the chance to talk to Stacey about his Atlanta roots, his long-time professional relationship with Susan Stroman and what exactly made him "Want to be a Producer".

In Minneapolis, the production has announced a pre-show ticket lottery, making a limited number of tickets available for $25 each, cash only, at the Orpheum box office, 910 Hennepin Avenue. THE BOOK OF MORMON is presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust as part of its 2012/13 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis Season.

The Second National Tour of THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, broke the house record in its first week of performances at the Bank of America Theatre (18 West Monroe). The show grossed $1,493,961 for the week ending December 16. THE BOOK OF MORMON began performances on December 11, 2012, with performances now extended through September 8, 2013.

Today, Monday 14 January 2013, sees the start of rehearsals for the London production of The Book of Mormon, which previews at the Prince of Wales Theatre from 25 February 2013. The New York Times has reported that SOUTH PARK and BOOK OF MORMON creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have formed Important Studios, a new production company they plan to announce tomorrow.

The former Rockette has done everything from Berlin to Sondheim to Wildhorn on Bway, as well as 'Rock of Ages' and 'Chorus Line'.

Rory O'Malley has announced on his Facebook page today that he will be exiting the Tony-award winning musical BOOK OF MORMON. According to the post, his last performance will be on Sunday, January 27th.

Before the holidays, Broadway's ELF THE MUSICAL made one lucky winner's holiday wish come true with a walk-on role in the musical. Last night, the contest winner, Melissa Marengo, joined Buddy the Elf and the rest of the cast, including two-time Tony winner Beth Leavel and Wayne Knight of Seinfeld, on stage during the Macy's Santa Scene. Broadway In Chicago and the producers of the new musical THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, announced today that tickets will be available for 14 additional weeks of performances of THE BOOK OF MORMON at the Bank of America Theatre (18 West Monroe). A new block of tickets for performances June 4 - September 8, 2013 will go on-sale to the public on Monday, January 7 at 10 a.m. Tickets are sold out through March 3, 2013, with some tickets still available March 5 - June 2, 2013.
