The 2015 Helen Hayes Awards Held Tonight in D.C.

One of the country's most prestigious cultural honors, The Helen Hayes Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence in professional theatre throughout the Washington metropolitan area. theatreWashington will host The 2015 Helen Hayes Awards ceremony tonight, April 6, 2015 at the historic Lincoln Theatre.

Tonight before a crowd of 150 theatre makers and theatre lovers, theatreWashington announced the nominees for the 2015 Helen Hayes Awards. One of the country's most prestigious cultural honors, The Helen Hayes Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence in professional theatre throughout the Washington metropolitan area. NextStop Theatre to Open 2014-15 Season with GIDION'S KNOT

At the forefront of the minds of parents this time of year is back-to-school, with newly fallen leaves, fresh clothes, and packed lunches being a top priority for families. In its 2014/2015 season premiere, NextStop Theatre and Forum Theatre address an issue many parents fear when putting their loved ones on the school bus in a new co-produced play surrounding the harsh realities of bullying, suicide, self-expression, academic standards, the parent-teacher relationship, and school violence.

Forum Theatre Presents CLEMENTINE IN THE LOWER 9, 5/23-6/15

Forum Theatre presents the area premiere of Clementine in the Lower 9, from playwright Dan Dietz, music composed by Justin Ellington, and directed by Derek Goldman May 23 - June 15, 2013. Manhattan Theatre Club's hit production of THE ROYAL FAMILY, written by theatre legends George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber is currently playing its final week. The twice extended production, directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes will play its final performance on Sunday, December 13 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Review - The Royal Family

In the 1920s, George S. Kaufman was one of the primary reasons New York was firmly establishing itself as the nation's capital of wit. Until his death in 1961, Kaufman could be called the quintessential New Yorker; continually working on Broadway as a playwright and director, reluctantly venturing out to Hollywood on occasion and regretting every moment of it and frequently quoted for his crackling cleverness ('I understand your new play is full of single entendres.').
